A few old photos of my trucks from my dad's stash.

I've been working my way though all of my dad's photos sorting the out and came across these.

First two were ones he took about 1974 in Texas when the truck was gold and I was working on my steel body T bucket.

This photo is while I was working on the then new cab in 1980. Chopped 4 inches with a 68 Camaro subframe. I bought a 3/4 ton truck with a near perfect cab from a neighbor for 50.00 and then swapped the 3/4 ton bed to my buddy for the 1/2 ton bed. He shortened the 3/4 ton bed at the second post to use on his shorty pickup.

Winter of 1981, 1982 I pulled the truck back apart and painted the frame and did the rest of the body work and painted the body. Dad took my hood to Tacoma in the trunk of his Olds 88 and had the hood stripped and then took it to Bremerton where they punched 120 Louvers in it with an old school air operated press. Internet is real slow so I can't load very many photos at once.

Top photo was taken at an event in 1982 or 83. Can't remember why I had the running boards off but I think I was repainting them at the time.
Lower photo was taken on the back side of the Puyallup Wa Fairgrounds and we were pulling our trailer. Wish I still had that one as it was a nice old trailer.

These two are off topic but too cool to pass up.
First one is my dad beside his 41 Ford Ragtop that allegedly had the loudest pipes in the Yakima Valley at the time on what was probably the day he married my mom. Same suit in their wedding photo.

Second one is what I believe was the 28 Chevy that he and his buddy Lyle Browning cut down in the mid 30's.

Oh damn, those photos are treasures! Love them, heck yeah!

I have told you how funny I find it that you got your truck real close to when I got mine and chopped it 4 inches like I did and painted it red like I did and they just looked a lot a like at the same exact times, it's hilarious. Even the Camaro clip. And now I see that you had a flat bed on it too like mine did when I bought it! HOLY CRAP how much more a like can this story get?

If you tell me you made it a mid engine at one time too I will just have to go get a beer and sit and think about that. LOL

What a classic that last one is!

My dad rode a Harley too, he use to tell us about how he would ride it standing on the seat. As a little kid I believed him, then later not so much. LOL One day at my shop I was writing an estimate for an old guy and he looked at my name and said "You aren't related to Al Martin are you?" I told him yeah, he is my dad and his eyes lit up and told me how "Your dad use to ride down main street standing on the seat of his motorcycle." Holy cow, it was true! I later had a guy draw me a picture with him doing it. I am blessed beyond belief to have thousands of photos of family and cars and what not.

Well this is my dad and one of his Buck Stanton and Buck's sister. Buck later owned Yakima plating where I had my grill and bumper chromed. His sister had a serious like for my dad even years later.
Second photo is dad's 37 supercharged Graham around 1940 or 41.

Last one,
John Kean (December 4, 1852 – November 4, 1914) was an American lawyer, banker and Republican Party politician from Elizabeth, New Jersey. He represented New Jersey in the U.S. Senate from 1899 to 1911 and served two separate terms in the United States House of Representatives, from 1883 to 1885, and from 1887 to 1889. A member of the Kean family of politicians, his great-grandfather, John Kean, had been a delegate to the Continental Congress for South Carolina, his brother was US Senator Hamilton Fish Kean, his nephew was US Representative Robert Winthrop Kean and his great-nephew was Governor Thomas Kean.

Thats his signature on the bill. The other one is my mothers father who was the head Cashier at the bank at that time. Banks back then used to print money.

A couple more shots of my 48 over time. Red is in the early 80's at Vintiques NW nats in Yakima playing in the cones.

Primered version is pure mid 70's running Crager Mach 8 mags in 14x7 and 14x8-1/2 with N-50 14 tires on the back. Fresh primer so it must have been on a Friday after I primered it on Thursday night at WH Thomas garage in Waco.

The T bucket was started in the early 70's probably the grand daddy to most rat rods when I look back at it although I tried to make it pretty clean for what I had to work with body and money wise. less than 600 1975 dollars tied up in the whole project.

Me and my 55 Buick Special with a 55 Super engine in it. 1966 in Renton Wa. I got a number of tickets in that one. Car was fast for it's day and a couple of guys blew their engines up trying to run with me on the highway.
Bought the car for 75.00 off a car lot in Seattle. Blew the engine up big time with piston and cylinder parts up in the lifter valley. Bought a Big 55 Buick
Special Sedan off a guy who worked in a music store and pulled the engine out of the special and stuck it in the trunk of the Super and turned the super around and pulled it's engine. Can't work that fast anymore.

My dad delivering a new 53 Ford to the customer, he was a car salesman from 1949 To 1979. And no the fender doesn't have a dent, it's the photo that got bent.

The second photo is a miniature Harley made from scratch by my mom's brother for his son. His son still has it! I got him a motor for it on ebay a number of year ago, a 3/4 horse motor from a washing machine!

Buick had a lot larger engine in 55 322 VS 265. In the late 50's and early 60's it was common to see a 401 Buick or 389 Pontiac stuck in a 55 Chevy to make it go fast.

Blew up the Polaroid of the 48 and figure out that it was taken in 1980 or 81.

Chopped, sitting in the yard in Zillah Wa, no sun roof, and still had the side pipes and Crager Mach 8 wheels.
