I recently picked up a suburban and it is missing the second row brackets for the middle seatbelts. Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket manufactures of these brackets?

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

Photo is upside down, but you can see all three belts are attached on the side barckets. So the passenger side male, female and middle male are all on the same bracket and bolt. Same with the other side.

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

There are no repros but I have purchased some on this site and ebay fairly cheap.

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

If it originally had four brackets (Like Redroad said - not reproduced) there should be holes in the floor under the carpet. That's where my seat belts were bolted. Through the floor.

Like these? There are holes, or I can redrill.

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

Those brackets are just like the OE used. My '73 Camaro has identical ones.

I'd have to look under my Suburban but I think there is a crossmember with the nuts attached already for the second seat.

The third seat, IIRC added another crossmember.

Under your carpet should be this:

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

VectorIT - I recently purchased a '72 Suburban. I'm wanting to put in a 3rd row seat. 1st and 2nd row seats are from early 2000's Tahoe. While getting my brain wrapped around what my options might be, I noticed the floor behind the second row is wood. I assumed it was replaced after the original floor rusted out. I see in one of your photos wood as well. Now I'm second guessing my assumption. Is the wood something original from the factory!?

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

The floors were originally wood. Plywood in the Suburban. I presume oak strips, in a panel.

If ordered with the third seat an extra metal reinforcement was placed under the floor between the wheel wells.

BigDav is on the mark...

Plywood was the factory floor - I didn't know this either when I first picked my Burb up in Cali.

As far as i can tell my SPID says AS3 REAR SEAT, but it has the long brackets, is this just a typo?

If Cars Inc makes 2 of the same covers from the one original pattern of my 2nd row seat I send them...will that extra cover fit the 3rd row? In other words - are the 3rd and 2nd row bench seats the same? My 2nd and 3rd row seats both measure about 50" wide...

I am new here and was looking for the answer to this question - did not find it. I currently do not have the third seat in my 1970 Suburban (am looking for one) but once I get one I will recover all the seats. So basically, are the covers for the narrow second seat the same as the ones for the third seat?

Thank you.

The second and third row are different. The second row is shorter, to allow a passenger to get in the third (back) door and get to the rear or third seat. The third seat is longer. I hope that helps

Are you sure about this? Both my 2nd row and the 3rd row seats both measured at about 50". 2nd row is off center, but the 3rd row fits between the wheel wells- Hers's a rough drawing -

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

The two back seats, 2nd and 3rd. Assuming that the 2nd is a "3/4" are both the same widths. The only thing different about the two are the mounting brackets. Width wise, they are the same.

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

From what I read the rear seat of a suburban is identical to the rear seat of a K5 , both seat and brackets wise , there also is a metal cross member that is mounted under the plywood in order to mount the rear seat, and as far as the middle seat of the suburban's those are in it self the only brackets that are organic to said spot and I don't ge and as far as the middle seat of the suburban's those are in it self the only brackets that are organic to said spot.

Here are the three option codes and dimensions. I should add, I think on my SPID, AS3 is labeled "Rear Seat" but is actually a full width center seat.

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

Hi,
Since I bought a 1968 GMC C1500 Suburban. I will be here more often. I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. My GMC has the second bench. I have a hard time finding proper seat covers to match the front bench. Any tips? Also door panels for the rear side are not easy to find. Will the front door panel fit?

Any info will help!

I bought this seat 5 years ago for $20 bucks. Is it a burb or blazer seat??
I think it's original seat cover?

Bigdav160 05-14-2017 07:42 AM

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats

I am pretty sure it can be either. That is also the upgrade "all vinyl" seat. In Suburban it would have had wood door panel inserts.

5 years ago I bought it's twin (except middle position) with taller brackets.

Hey thanks. now I feel guilty for wanting to strip off the vinyl. .
