I have to brag

A few years ago I bought an old shotgun for $10. The wood was broken, bluing all but gone, and the action was stuck. I kept it hidden in a corner hoping no one would ever see it. Then this spring a friend in upstate NY convinced me to let him have a stab at it. He is a gunsmith and does hand checkering. I told him it's no hurry, just as long as I get it back before either of us dies.

It came back yesterday and I love it. Anyone who knows these old Remington Model 10's knows how the action can be tricky. He smoothed and tuned that. He re-finished all the metal to original finish. No sanding marks and the stamping is as clear as you could hope for. The custome designed hand checkering is very nice.

There's so much I like about it now. I'm thinking I will build a live edge-bark on walnut shelf to put it on. Maybe even build a plexiglass box to cover it

Beautiful work.

My wife keeps telling me I should get my Model 12 Winchester refinished. It's not really that bad for a gun that's 61 years old. (It's in better shape than I am) But this kind of inspires me to do it.

Darn nice looking shotgun! I'm not bragging, and I'm not on the same level as your friend, but I saved this old Mossberg from a rusty death. Had this old rusty 20 ga with no stock for years. Also had an extra Mosin-Nagant stock laying around. Made myself a single shot Russian trench gun.

When I get the energy I should post up a pic of my 20G. It's a Western Field from 1937 bolt action with internal 3 round box magazine. I refinished the wood and bluing at home. It's nowhere as nice as the M10 but it works good

This is my grandfathers gun. He brought it with him on the boat in 1916. I had it looked at by a gunsmith who specializes in old European firearms. Said it was made in Belgium around 1880 to 1890. 16 gauge bird gun uses light loads . I have done nothing to it as it has and always will be very well taken care of. Whole gun has some very ornate filigree on it.

And it works great also.

I finally had a chance to test it today. Using AA heavy target loads I only missed 3 clays from 1 box. Using my 870 supermag or my Maxus I'm lucky to get half. My first shot I didn't expect to make a hit, but did. I just swung and pulled trigger while watching the clay, not even paying attention to the bead or rib. I have found my new pheasant gun
