Handling Questions.
I read the make it handle thread, and learned a few new things.
You can improve a camber gain by moving the lower a-arm forward 3/4 of an inch. What if one moved it a inch forward is it better or is 3/4 is the ideal. When doing a drop is it always necessary to move the cross member forward 1" forward to center the wheels? Or does the cross member mod change that. |
Re: Handling Questions.
You can only move the control arms so far before the rear bushing starts contacting the crossmember. You can read more detail on it here:
http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...ght=caster+mod You don't absolutely have to move the wheels forward when you do a drop, it's just more noticable with a drop. Doing the above mod will center the wheels better. |
Re: Handling Questions.
I meant although a bit poorly stated what if the relationship was 1" difference vs 3/4.
Would that be better? Or is 3/4 of done because of the ease of the mod. |
Re: Handling Questions.
With the 3/4" mod 5.5 deg is supposed to be attainable, on no limit's 72 c10 they moved the lower ball joint forward 1" and I think they got about 7 degrees.
With the lower control arm mod you are only moving the lower joint so the amount the tire moves forward in the fender is about half. |
Re: Handling Questions.
I did my 86 1" forward and got 7.5 degrees dialed in for caster.

Re: Handling Questions.
Thank you guys.
I am on the hunt for a cheap cross member on to which plant my evil ideas. |
