Hi there I am new to these forums, Just thought I would introduce myself and some of my projects. This is my latest build. I call Him "Billy Big Rig" inspired by my time in the 2nd battalion Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry, I built this truck in memory of a couple friends I lost while overseas. Here are some pics of the finished product and ill be posting some of my progress photos later too.

What did you paint the underside with? POR-15?

Re: Billy Big Rig ( 1989 GMC Crew Cab V3500) Lifted custom
Interior is still needing to be done in the spring and a 5.9L 12v cummins to install. I am currently running a 454 on propane, NV4500 tranny and all rebuilt drive line. Rear shackle mount bracket flip and re-curved rear springs(Stock). I put a 3" body lift. front springs are 8" BDS leaf with bilstein reservoir shocks all around. I am running a Sky Manufacturing high steer and crossover conversion. Dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear totally rebuilt. the chassis was completely stripped down and sandblasted along with the bottom side of cab and box.

the underside is sandblasted then used a dupont metal conditioner then painted with 4 coats of Clovacoat 300 industrial.

Excellent choice on the seats
Do you have any pictures of the install/brackets? Having lived on both side of the border I realized that we don't apprecaite our men and women in service as much as we should, i would like to thank you for doing one of the few jobs i don't think i could do... If your ever in Edmonton give me a shout, i'd love to buy you dinner and a few beers while looking over this truck Nice work sir, nice work |

Thanks alot guys, yeah I put alot of sweat and blood into this rig.
Thanks alot hick I appreciate it, will hit you up one day for sure. The wheels are a 20x14 Fuel Hostage rim wrapped in a 38.5x15.5r20 Toyo open country MT. The olive drab paint is a endura colour and it is a NO GLOSS chip. I love it my wife actually helped me pick it out haha. The shocks are on the opposite side of each other for stability. all the old chevy's i have had have been like this. |

Re: Billy Big Rig ( 1989 GMC Crew Cab V3500) Lifted custom
First off from a fellow service member from south of your boarder thanks for your service. 2nd wery nice looking truck. Wish mine was that far alog. 3rd how the heck did your gal to help out on your truck? What year are those seats and what options did they have?
|
Re: Billy Big Rig ( 1989 GMC Crew Cab V3500) Lifted custom
The wife just liked helping alot on it, shes pretty mechanically inclined (even tho she works at a jewelry store lol) and those seats are out of a 2006 Chevy duramaz they are fully powered heated seats with all the controls like tilt, lumbar ect... I haven't hooked up the heat switches yet because I still have to finish the carpet inside and the headliner.

Your truck is one of my favorites. I came really close to painting my dually olive drab after parting out the M1008.
