Projects from Phlebmaster's past.

My first lessons in wrenching came from my 1973 Datsun 620 truck. The link to my old project thread is below to save post space. This is also a story of how I acquired my 1972 Chevy C20 that I have now.....you shall see how they are connected by the end of this post. lol

Phlebmaster's 620 Evolution

This truck was given to me by my father-in-law because he purchased a new car. The truck needed a ton of work and I had no real experience as a mechanic. I was not afraid to get my hands dirty however.

I ended up transforming this Little Hustler into a fun custom truck that you don't see every day. See my 620 project thread link for full details.

Here is what it looked like when I got it.

Here is what it looked like when I traded it for the 1973 240z.

Next Project......

Here is the project thread for my 1973 Datsun 240z.....

Phlebmaster's 240z Evolution

Long story short...I traded my 620 truck strait across for this little gem. I had always wanted a Zcar, and this was a project I could dig into since I had some good practical experience with the truck. I did some cool custom stuff with this car, just as I did with the truck.

Here is what she looked like when I got her......

Nothing fancy, but mostly rust free.

Here is what she looked like when I sold her to purchase my next project, the 1972 Chevy 3/4 ton. You can see that project thread in my signature.

I'm not sure why I have an attraction to basic vehicles. Theres something about the simplicity of rubber floor mats, tie down hooks and no frills that gets me. I drove the same pickup when I was a kid and I loved it. Later I bought an 81 chevy Luv for the same reasons. The next somewhat basic rigs I had were both my 71 chevy and '81 cj-7. I would not mind finding another Datsun truck some day.

You could fit in one?:lol: You look to be a bit bigger than me.
No offense Don, I had one as a company truck, I'm 6'2" just under 250lbs and I could barely squeeze my arse in!:lol:
I also owned a '76 LUV, it was a tiny bit bigger that the Datsun, not much though.

I always thought size didn't matter....:haha:

The Chevy truck is taking quite an adjustment because I can barely reach the peddles or the passenger door from the driver's seat. And I could fit either of those Datsuns into the bed of my C20. :metal:

A friend of mine had a 240 that we used to cruise around in in high school. That was a fun car. You are practically sitting over the rear wheels so when you get sideways you know it!

This car was pretty spunky. I "unintentionally" turned a few 360 deg turns lol:devil:

I almost forgot about this video!! Right after I brought my z car home I did an engine swap and we did this in 4.5 hours. My buddy made this video of it and compressed the time to 2.5 minutes...worlds fastest engine swap?? We pulled out the stock L24 and put in an L26. I laugh every time I see it.

Here is a fun run after I put the headers and strait pipe exhaust on her.

those old bullet sides are quite the truck. I had one back in '94. L20B and a 5 speed. I smoked the tranny so I swapped in a tranny from a 240Z (IIRC). I made it a Lincoln locker and went mudding. what a blast. I could go just about anywhere.
later on i replaced the diff. and made it a DD. I think it was undersized for the 18' car trailer and 2 Gehl 5625 skidsteers. LOL
