What engine and engine frame mounts in a 75-79 Nova/Camaro clipped 55-57 truck did you use for a '78 350/383/400? Also what transmission cross member? I've spent 3 days searching but haven't stumbled across an answer!

Depends how the Camaro clip is mounted.

If it is blended into the truck framerails, the engine would sit too low if the stock camaro mounts are used, so most guys buy a set of universal stand type mounts like is offered by Welder Series or Speedway or Summit.

The other method of doing a Camaro clip, where the truck frame is stacked on top of the camaro subframe mounts, gives the frame a bit of a Z of a couple of inches so stock Camaro engine mounts are often used.

For a transmission crossmember, a universal one like is offered from CPP and other vendors is often used.

I read somewhere in a post that chevelle motor /frame mounts were 1 inch taller then camaro/nova mounts, is this true?
See what happens when you do a search, it really messes with your mind!

I'm not sure on that one, here is what one of my buddies did on one he put together.

It looks like he used some plate steel to raise it up a bit.

On engine swaps I have done I finally figured out that it is a lot simpler to mount the trans where it needs to be and then figure out what to do with the front mounts to get the engine sitting where it should. You usually have some room to play with at the front as far as up and down go but most of the time the output shaft on the trans wants to be real close to the same spot that the original one was in no matter what front suspension you have.
