So is it worth the extra money to have all the connectors pre-installed?

Re: 67-72 wiring harness???
The EZ wire harness is universal correct? Where as the painless harness I can get specific to 67-72 gm trucks?

Re: 67-72 wiring harness???
$180 for a 21-circuit EZ to my door on ebay. Just do a search for "21 wiring"... the same guy has them priced from 180 shipped to $200 shipped for the same thing, so look for the cheaper ones.

I'm currently doing the Painless Harness, 18 circuit. You will speNd most of the time removing the old harnesses, And modding the firewall to accept the fatter harness

Re: 67-72 wiring harness???
I used an EZ harness on my '71. Mine was a bit more complex than a standard re-wire, as I have a decent amount of stereo stuff in mine too. All in all, I didn't have much trouble with the EZ kit. I used EZ's wiring diagram, and compared it against a factory wiring diagram, when I did the wiring on my truck. It took some head scratching at times. But everything worked the first time I powered it up.
I'm not trying to be negative here, but I think a lot of people's problems come from not completely understanding electricity/wiring/wiring diagrams when they undertake this task. There is more involved than just positives and negatives, like you encounter when adding stereo equipment. Understanding hot to read diagrams is key to doing a complete re-wire too. But some basic skills in this area go a long way to making the whole process easier. |
