Junkyarding in colorado this time.

Bought the jimmy awhile back and finally made the trip to go pick it up. She runs and drives and has a lot of good things about it. It does have some rust, but way better than anything in Minnesota. Made a few stops along the way to Colorado springs and loaded up with a bunch of other goodies. A little over 2300 miles in 4 days. My check book says I have had enough fun for awhile between this and the jimmy camper! Now I need to dig through my parts and hope for some warm weather so I can play with this one. Single digit wind chills right now.
Enjoy the pics...

You are crazy aren’t you
Mile after mile in the northern states
During winter !
I feel like such a lightweight
Always waiting for good weather
When I hit the road....

Nice finds

Nice score. I almost thought you'd somehow hijacked my '71 Jimmy, but mine's a PO's custom metallic blue. Also it needs a new fuel pump. The one I just replaced last week [after 11-13 years of good luck w/ a Carter] from O'Reilly's crapped out at 150 miles. Had to be towed home from work. I should get to it today, unless I'm on the laptop til dark again. Then I'll have to run the Stepside to work.

I love reading about your adventures Eric.. There are always parts to be had but sometimes, as you do, you have to go get them..

I don't believe you. You never went anywhere. I've seen all these parts before and the Jimmy you just never showed before. Nice try. Find yourself another fool.

Just out of curiosity, i have a speaker and grill like, what is it from?
Nice score on the parts and the truck too!

Wow!Tow Hooks. Now you can put your kids thru college.

Looks like I'm stuck working til Thursday. It hit 92F today. Too dark to pull a fuel pump now. I may have an American-made one I pulled off to check a gripe that was distributor-related. Don't have time to keep replacing Chinese junk.

I think that's the stock oval 4 ohm speaker for the underdash position. Lo-Fi, but OK for AM.

The speaker is an under dash blazer/jimmy speaker.

No kids, so I guess I will keep the tow hooks...

If the stock slots for the speaker are already cut in the dash, when the speaker plays, it reflects off the inside curve of the windshield and sounds pretty good, for Sixties AM Rock'n'Roll, at least.

I realize this isn't a parts for sale thread, but you sure did get a lot of things I'd like to have. So in keeping with proper board etiquette, I'd like to ask that you simply tell me before your next trip where exactly it is you are going...

... SO I CAN GET THERE FIRST!!!

When he said under dash, it really is mounted under the dash between the dash and floor hump.

It's mounted directly beneath the surface of the dash in the center, on factory- equipped trucks. Above the radio, ash tray and heater controls, facing up. It bounces off the inside windshield.

Maybe some, but not all. My K/5s with factory installed radios had speaker attached under the dash facing down tilted to the back some. You could see it, not hidden back up behind like in trucks with enclosed cab. There are no slots in top of dash for a speaker and there is an oval grille to cover it. The idea was to keep out of weather a little better I think. Tops were optional on non-CST K/5.

I will try to get you some coordinates. If I am not there soon, just keep looking until you find something.
Actually, a bunch of this came from a craigslist ad 2 days before I left, and the other stuff was a junkyard in Nebraska I think...

Not all the luck, just some of it.

You're right, I guess, if we're talking from a K/5 perspective. My '68 C/10 Stepside had the slots, even though it had no factory radio off the showroom floor. PO put in a late- '50s GM AM pushbutton radio, Antenna was a junkyard whip w/o a cowl to hang it on. It was laid out long, inside the windshield, as far forward as possible.
The '71 Jimmy [K/750] had no underdash speaker. A low cost cassette deck was in the 2-hole slot and 6x9 oval speakers cut into the inside sidewall panels, behind the front seats.
It probably had a Delco AM/FM tuner. Circa 1995 when I bought it.
Radio Delete Plate, now.
