Vent door?

Does anyone know if this vent door is even available at all anywhere or if the seal can be repaired or replaced ?

Re: Vent door?
I hear the seals are available.............or you can buy new vent doors. As I recall, other than the originals being painted, there's no difference between the original doors what I purchased from Classic Heartbeat.

Re: Vent door?
I found them in the catalog for classic industries, 5.99 for the pair. I assume you have to drill the rivets out as the seal is sandwiched between the two pieces. Has anyone ever replaced these seals ?

Re: Vent door?
Don't sweat this I just did it with mine it's easy all you had to do is drill out the rivets get your new seals and aline the seal free pre drill the rivet holes through the seal. Just do one at a time and now is the time to clean them up and paint. Doug

Re: Vent door?
So did you rivet them back together ?

Re: Vent door?
I took mine apart, just drill out the rivets, and while you're at it you could clean them up and paint them. It's a very easy thing to do. I pop riveted mine back together since they are out of the way.

Re: Vent door?
I did mine years ago and used some 1/8" thick red silicone gasket material that was soft and pliable.
I drilled out the rivets and replaced them with screws and nylock nuts. I used the old gaskets to get close on the cutout for the gasket material. It was more about time than cost. The cost was like $15 for the material, then I had to cut out the patterns and drill the rivets and bolt it all back together. Probably a couple hours for both, taking my time. |
