92 Sonoma

Today me and my dad went and looked at a 92 Sonoma long bed. It is a v-6, 5 speed. I test drove it and loved the little thing, so we brought it. We got to go pick it up tomorrow. I got a few questions about it though: it has a slow leak in the slave cylinder. You can fill it up with fluid and drive it for a few hours before you need to top it off agian, where is the most common places for these to leak at? Ive never owned a small truck nor a stick shift, so this is all new to me. Also, how hard is it to change out the door locks? And what are some cheap but good lookin wheels to put on these? Sorry for the questions, but Im excited about getting my first small truck and my first stick shift. :metal:

Door lock cyls are EASY and cheap. hardest thing is getting the door panels off. 2.8s are good little motors. a older brother to the 3.1,3.4 etc. I got one in my 90 firebird that has almost 300k and runs great. You prolly just need a new slave cyl, may as well replace the slave, clutch master cyl, and clutch while your at it.. But if clutch feels ok and isnt contaminated you may can get by with just replacing the slave. Look for some camaro wheels, or newer s10/ blazer wheels. One of my first cars was/is "still have it" a 88 gmc jimmy. I went through a ton of different wheels just for the heck of it to keep me interested. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...1&d=1281378806

I learned to drive in my dad's 2.8/5speed 92 S10. I agree that they look good with later-model S10 wheels, especially the ZQ8 wheels, both old and new style...

Alright, here she is. She aint pretty by any means, but she does have great potential.

I was checking some stuff after a long drive.

Overall, I drove it around about 100 miles today with no problems except the fact I havent drove a 5 speed in awhile so I had to get use to it agian lol.

man, I like it, cut the coils, lowering blocks, buff, swap the black stuff for some shine, keep stock steel wheels with fresh coat of blue and put some moons on em. Cool on the cheap. :-}

The paint looks good far away, but you get up close you can tell it is spray paint lol. I got a gallon of enamel Metallic blue that I am going to paint this truck. And I am thinking of putting a set of old nova wheels on it(I was told there nova wheels anyway), they fit the truck. The only thing I dont like about them is they are 14's, I want 15's or 16's on it. And yes the grille, front and rear bumper will be swaped for some chrome.

Here is a pic of the wheel Im thinking of using.

I would love to have them, but as you said, getting them would be a problem. At least right now anyway. If you still have the come spring break, I will be able to come up there and get them. Or maybe Christmas break...Gotta get a job first.

They looked kinda cool to me, but I would rather have some camero or blazer wheels honestly. Something simple yet nice looking.

Re: 92 Sonoma

the ext cab was just 4inch lowering springs and blocks in the back... the blue one is lowering spindles and springs in the frnt and blocks in the back but we also put lowering leafs in the back but dont have a recent pick of it... we also removed the gay stripe... we hunt junk yards for trucks with this stuff on it and pay the price of replacement parts cause they dont notice there after market so we get them cheap... lowering spindles for 20 bucks is pretty cool lol... we als o put zq8 front sway bar on the blue one and a blazer rear sway bar and zq8 frame brace... it handles good to say the least lol

Re: 92 Sonoma

Fixed a little problem I was having with my motor stumbling. The first owner had taken the body ground from the battery and instead of bolting it down, he took the wire and ran it through a hole in the fender and just wrapped the wire around it. And to top it off the guy didnt even wire bruch the metal to get it clean. So anyway, I got it nice a clean and bolted down now. Next thing is to get some injector cleaner and a new air filter and fuel filter.

I've had good results with Lucas injector cleaner.
