I can do this for ya, and probably have at least twice this many more floating around out there somewhere between here and Seattle that I didn't get pictures of before they left. Mel :chevy:

Biggest waist of perfectly good 8th beds. I think a tear just came to my eye:lol: Go to Home Depot and buy a 5x8 trailer and save yourself the weight and gas cost of hauling one of those around. Then sell me your bed for my project and offset the cost.;)

Home Depot 5 X 7 can't haul 5000 pounds of scrap iron.

(That picture don't show a 5000 pound load, but I've done it many times. Gravel and topsoil, too)

Hey guys, how many 8' boxes should one have on hand and available at any one given time? I am well stocked on the 8 foot'ers and believe me when I say that I am very selective on what gets turned into a trailer or used on a trailer build, I mean obviously you are not going to get a pristine $1200.-$1500. long fleet box on a $400.-$500. trailer setup ;). I have built over 100 of these trailers and like Mel, they do not get nice beds.

I sure hope you were not going to the dump with that 67/68 hood on top.

There are a few things you can do. Leave the original axle and use as is. If you have a full floating axle, you can cut the axle shafts off. An eaton floater you can remove the 3rd member and cover the opening with an extra rear cover. (I have an old thread doing this). Another way I do it is to get a mid 70's El Dorado rear straight axle, weld the spring perches and install it as an "axle flip" to lower the trailer by 5 inches.

Ernesto, that one's a real beauty, I would for surely give ya a thumbs up :c2: or an in person complement on that setup if we were to ever cross paths while out in traffic! Mel :chevy:

I hated to do it, but it was rusted through pretty much all along front, just below where the CHEVROLET letters are placed. And that old blue bed never was worth anything but making a trailer out of. I used to own the whole truck, but turned the front half into a Trazer.

Thanks everyone. Like the Blazer and the truck bed. Thinking about doing the same thing.

Re: Truck Bed Trailers

I'm currently in the very early stages of restoring a 1970 Brookwood. Since this car did not have a title at the time of purchase, I've worked on getting it re-titled, replacing leaking fuel-lines and planning the restoration.

Now that I have a valid title, and have successfully registered the car, I'm ready to begin restoring her.

I'm thinking that this car would look amazing with a 'matching' bed trailer behind it and believe that a bed from a 1973-87 C/K would most closely match the Brookwood's lines.

Would any of you know where I could find such a trailer?

Here's mine. No way you could even make a Sow's Ear Purse out of this one, not with any amount of lipstick. But it does look cool behind my blue
Jimmy.

After seeing all those nice 67-72 truck bed trailers I going to have to get one. Never really thought about the payload of one.

I just scrapped a leaf spring one out and kept the rear frame rails, cross members, and the 3.73 posi. There wasn't a bed on it when I got it.

Man! I always wanted to have a perfectly matched bed trailer for one of my trucks (either the 80 stepper or the red '87)
