'88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?

Well, I haven't seen a thread like this so I felt like I should open one up, and see how many replies it'll get. This is for both 2WD and 4WD. So post 'em! What size tire and wheel are you running on your '88-'98?

First, my '88 Silverado K1500.

Worn out Firestone Wilderness 265/70 16s on 16x7 2000 Chevy Silverado aluminum wheels.

And my '92 Sierra C1500.

255/60 15 Cooper Cobra Radial GT on the front, 275/60 Defender Sport on the back. Mounted on 15x10 aluminum wheels. Not sure what brand, I think they're Ultra or American Racing.

I envy you lol. Wish my '88 was that frickin' tall. It might get 32's on it here soon but I don't have money so I'll just crank the t-bars and worry about an alignment later as the truck doesn't go on the road; tags are expired and it's been off the insurance nearly a year.

Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?

thanks man. it has about 6.5 inches of lift, and I just barely trimmed the valance, if it was any shorter I don't think the tires would fit.

I went through your build thread. A lot of work to make it that way, and it came out pretty damn good.

Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?

Yeah if I were to do it again I would get a little taller springs for the front, and get new springs for the rear(I have a 5.5 inch block, and a 1 inch block added to the leaf, and a leaf added to the leafs). I think it looks good were it sits, you can still get in it easily, and the 35s fit(I've never had them rub). It looks tall alone, but if you put it beside a stock pickup it doesn't look as tall, some stock vehicles look almost as tall as it when parked beside them.

I hear what you mean. Me and my dad put a 3" Skyjacker on his 2000 Z71. 3 isn't that big of a lift, but you can tell it's higher than stock, but it doesn't look that tall if parked next to another.

Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?

If I was going to buy a skyjacker lift I would go more than 3 inch, only because you can get 2.5 out of cranking the t bars(you can get 3 out of it but you'll have a rough ride). Thats just me though. I put a 2.5 block in this one for a while and cranked it, but I knew I was going to do a solid axle eventually. If your not going to go any bigger than that. then its not a waste of money because its lifted and still rides good.

Well, my dad traded his buddy Dave a shotgun for the kit, so I think it was a good deal. Lol

255/55/18 Goodyears on 18x8 Eagle 212s. Tires are getting to the point of being dangerously bald, and I'm ready for a new look, so I'm looking for sport/454SS rims with 275/60/15s.

Y'know, I've been thinking of running 454SS rims on my '92, but if I get new wheels for it, I'm gonna get American Racing Outlaw II, and probably a painted 454SS wheel for my spare lol. I don't know why, but I love the look of the AR Outlaw II. That and I inherit the fact that it's my dad's favorite wheel. LOL

I just picked them up yesterday on Craigslist for $160 w/out tires. I just moved my tires over today.

Are you having good luck with those? I've been thinking about getting their mud tires for my truck. A little hesitant on retreads.

Both my trucks are used a farm truck. So we are always pulling or hauling some kind of load with them. My dad has run them for years. If you check out there web site the have an article that a off road magazine did about them. I highly recommend them. They tread pattern that I go looks like a bridgestone tread style, but the side walls are nitto grappler.

Well my truck is a farm truck so you're the perfect guy to ask! I'll probably take a chance on them after harvest. Thanks!
