Tilt Steering Feels Like Its Binding
 
I Got A Tilt Steering Column From a Friend Of Mine Fot Zmy 70 c10. Said it was Out of a Van.. when I Went To Spin The Splines It Felt Like It Was Binding. Would Spin Free Then Hit a hard Spot then Spin Free Again.. is This Normal With a Tilt? Thanks.

More than likely you have a bad bearing. There are 3 sets of bearings in the tilt columns. It could be one of the uppers or lower bearing. It could be chips flaking off of the ball bearings or pitted areas on the race that the ball bearings spin around in

Les (70shortfleet, above post) and Kevin (KevsClassics) both members here restore tilts. I hear they both do great work.
