I don’t have insurance, because after paying premiums for a number of years I would have to push my truck off a cliff to justify it

6" with 37x13.5 on 22s they did not ask about lift height, they just asked about rim size and went by pics that the rep took. Yes they did ask me about HP.

It isn't a stretch that a person that puts that much money into an engine for power will tend to use it..

Abstilutely. But insurance companies don't want to insure engines and stereo systems, really. And it's more complicated with engines because the assumption is the more expensive the engine, the more power it must make, and the more power the engine makes, the higher the chance of an accident.

So what you're kind of saying to them is "I've invested heavily in being high risk". I'm not saying that's true, just how it could be read.

I almost tripled the value of my truck (in fact may have) with my last renewal and told them what I had in the engine (which was most of the value increase). The Hagertys girl I was talking to didn't even flinch, she just jacked up the rate to cover it.

I insure my 71' C20 and my wife's 76' Corvette thru our regular company that we insure all our other vehicles and home thru. The rate is very reasonable and they are both insured for "stated value". I provided multiple photos and appraisals. Drive them whenever and wherever we want.

$153 Cdn for the whole year. Amazing. What a
country.
Never tell them it is not stock.

American Classic insurance is the worst about payouts... I have heard bad things about Grundy also...

I have Hagerty on my truck...

What do you do when they ask? You MUST pick one of the modification categories, even in their online application (just looked).

He lies. And then when a claim is made they find out he lied and deny it. Makes sense. Why even have a policy?

I have Grundy insurance on 3 vehicle. Had 2 claims in the last 4 years. Fastest payout for the damages I’ve ever heard of. Called it in one day, next week they inspected, 5 days later had the check for over $13K. 12 days ain’t bad in my eyes.

Oh and my rates did not increase either.

I know someone else with the same Grundy story. Maybe it’s the area inspectors adjusters we have down here. IDK

I would strongly suspect if Grundy not to pay a claim, something isnt on the level with the claimant.

I read in hemmings the differences with agreed value, and stated value.
You might want to read your doc's.. You might not have what you think you have.

They told me no because I wanted to drive it too much.

I have hagerty for my 67 camaro. But tried to get my 71 c10 on there and was declined because it won't be garage. Do any classic insurance company insure non garage cars?

National Corvette Museum known as NMC is who I use, they did not ask me hp only for pictures of the truck. $35000 replacement cost. $267 a year. Thats a third of haggerty. Only thing they dont cover is track use. And it must be garaged....

I went with Grundy. Best rate too. I had trouble with the other insurers because they kept classifying my truck wrong. One place would say the truck had to be done and not a work in progress. Some do rat rods but not trucks. Glad I found Grundy $125 a year for agreed value of $8500.

This is kinda like antique plates. Its not to be a daily driver but date nights or days are ok...so you have lots of dates😉 at the end of the day as long as you stay under the agreed yearly miles whos to say what you were doing when it happened. NMC is also agreed value, not appraised. If you buy 35k you get that plus inflation.....if your pictures dont match your number you may be turned down ...but if they agree its a contract.

For only 125 bucks a year there has to be some serious limitations on driving

Montierth 02-13-2018 11:38 PM

Re: Haggerty Insurance turned me down

Actually they are very vauge on limits. Im not too worried as its not drivable right now. For same insured rate haggerty was over $300. Of course my memory is not that great:)

Robznobs11 35k for $267 a year seems like a great deal!

I have 4 trucks with Grundy. Been doing business with them for years. Only have had 1 claim and they were very pleasant to deal with and very quick about sending me a check. No complaints here

Ditto, I highly recommend them. I have 2 trucks and a muscle car. Reasonable rate and great service is a win in my book.

I had Hagerty up until last week for 2 years. I had my 71 C10, 56 Bel Air, 64 SS Impala and the ramp truck all on there and not once was I asked what the mileage was. So how do they know what you drive it?
You better hope your wife are kids have no tickets are wrecks in the daily drivers. They will cancel you for it.
I would hate to know I lied about my vehicle to a insurance company just to find out later when I need it they want cover it!

Yea I wouldn't recommend lying. With mi you have to name the drivers. So it would not cover my wife and kids. How ever.... i cant see any one or insurance company expecting you to pay for insurance and leave it parked.....Unless it is something bluntly obvious that is a violation of policyI would think they would have to own up to the contract.

I only had my wife and I and my dad listed on the Hagerty policy. We where the only ones who could drive them.

They looked at my normal Allstate insurance and canceled me because of my sons 2 bump up in parking lots and my one speeding ticket for 10MPH are less which was also on my Allstate policy. Which was only 2 points against me total.
