Dash lights
I have a 1972 Blazer, and I cannot get the dash lights to work for the life of me. I have checked most of the usual suspects, but nothing..... I bought it this way, and I am tired of driving with a flash light :banghead:
Any ideas??? |
You checked the fuse right? There should be a gray wire coming into the back of the dash cluster, in the harness. This is the incoming power for dash lights. Are the bulbs good? Is the black wire on the harness grounded well? Any of these things could affect it working or not. Also the intensity goes thru your headlight switch. I'd check the ground first though, then the fuse, and bulbs next. Good luck, Jeff.

I thought I checked all that stuff, will recheck. I have yet to check the switch will try that...
Thanks for the reply:metal: |
Check the printed circuit for tears

Use a test light and start chasing it right from the fuse box. Sucks, I know, but it'll find the issue. Check grounds too.

While we're on the subject. My dash lights come on in the parking light position, but go out when I turn on the headlights. Sometimes, if I hit just the right spot on the rheostat, they'll come on, but the next bump in the road will douse them again. ??????

Your headlight switch rheostat is shot. Buy a new switch. They are about $15. Jeff.

replaced switch.
fixed the problem :metal: Thanks for the help |
