Add hand throttle?
I'm tall. 6'7". 36" inseam. That means when driving the truck at cruise speed, my right leg/ankle is forced into a "Z" shape that kills my ankle while I have to hold the pedal. I'd like to add the hand throttle that was found on the bigger trucks. Yes, I'm fully aware that driving with this is not what it is for and could be dangerous. So is driving an old truck with no airbags, no ABS, no traction control, no power steering, no power brakes, and a three on the tree, lol. One more thing to add to the dance will be no problem.
Anyone have any info on install? Parts sources? Should I just re-purpose a complete choke cable/handle? Here is a shot of how the linkage connects to the carb. I can handle making the bracket. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1445348558 |
Re: Add hand throttle?
Back with an update after more searching. Here is a guy that did exactly what I'm thinking about. I didn't know the knob is used to lock and release the setting, that is cool.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...1&postcount=12 I haven't found anything for 64-66, but there is a lot of info on our site for 67-up using the manual throttle knob |
Re: Add hand throttle?
Edit three: Bill's has the 60-63 throttle cable for 20 bucks. I think I'm going to do this.

Re: Add hand throttle?
My Dad had one of these on his '60 Apache. He called it Cruise Control, somewhat tongue in cheek.
