Radiator Overflow Tank

1 Attachment(s)
Ive managed to source a good looking (IMO) overflow tank, my query is can I just use the existing overflow pipe (the one that deposits the coolant out through the radiator support) fed into the bottom of my new tank and that will act as a flow and return?

Thanks guys

Yes, but the radiator and entire cooling system needs to be full to get the "draw back" from that tank when the coolant cools. You will likely need to top off that tank a few times after drive cycles to do that.

Over time the system will pump out the air. Fill as best you can. I used a clear tube to the tank. You can see plugs of air and coolant move in the tube. As the air plug is forced into the tank it will bubble up. Upon the radiator cooling, coolant will be sucked from the tank into the radiator. Over time all air will be purged. This will work even if the tank is below the radiator neck. A really good spot is below the battery in the fender area. As long as the tube is submerged in the tank and air tight at the radiator neck it works very well.
