Figure out if its a 10, 20, or 30 first. All different.

it will be for a K10 build, I have a 10 bolt front and need to find a rear so a 10 bolt or 12 bolt 6 lug is what I am looking for but I do not know what years other chevy's will work.

Re: what year rear ends fits 67-72

i ran into this issue due the the rear housing on my 71 k5 was rusted through at the axle tube u bolt clamp area. the main difference is the center to center distance between the leaf spring pads. up to 72 its around 40". from 73 on the distance widened to around 42.5". another difference is the actual width of the leaf springs. im not 100% sure but i believe 67/8 had 2" wide springs then 69 and up are 2.5" wide pack. i had to take a 73+ 12 bolt, cut off the spring perches and weld new perches on in the narrower position to fit my spring/ frame style. oh also 73 and up has staggered(front and rear shock mounts) that are also in different locations width wise. they too had to be cut off and rewelded both to the front side of the axle tube(72 and earlier position). hope this isnt too confusing but if you can find a useable 72 and earlier 12 bolt youll have less issues to address.

If you went to 8 lug you could also use a 1ton 4x4 single rear wheel from a square body and only move the shock mounts. It will bolt right in other than the shocks.
