Window Regulator Replacement

Can anyone recommend a good quality window regulator that I can buy at a local parts store? Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a real GM part?

My passenger side has been broken for a few months now. Now that it's staying to get cold again around here I thought it might be a good time to get it changed out.

Thanks,
Nick

regulator track and cables or window motor?

i dunno what you have by way of parts stores back there in MA but i like napa auto parts stores.

if motor only i would recommend acdelco from napa which should be an oem direct replacement.

if everything else, try napa again or rockauto?

i like acdelco parts, maybe find the factory part number and cross reference with available parts are any online retailer with free shipping. like parts geeks or GM direct website or amazon?

I ordered the motor and regulator assy. off the ebay on the 14th and it was delivered on the 17th. I'm in Arkansas and the supplier is in California so the shipping time may take a day or two longer to you.
It was $81.69 and free shipping for an AC Delco part.

If replacing the motor I'd go all out and replace the regulator assembly too because the cables age, fray and eventually break . You can buy it as a whole assembly but keep in mind you get what you pay for. I've seen them sell new for as little as $26 per door for aftermarket Ebay units to as high as $85 per door for Genuine GM replacements. The difference is the quality.

Good Luck !!!!

I had that same thought when my passenger side quit this summer and then realized I had to replace the drivers side a couple years ago so the gm stuff isn't so good either. I got my passenger side replacement from A1 auto and bought the higher quality and it works great not saying it wont fail but to have both my gm regulators go out isn't saying much for them

Rockauto is my recommendation. I replaced both driver and passenger a few months ago and they are perfect. Buy the whole regulator and motor assembly. Cheap. Easy install

I agree with buying the regulator & motor assembly. Might as well install it all since your in there and be done with it.

Will that restore the original 'up' speed? I was thinking I could maybe clean n lube the tracks n etc, mine both work but they are so... slow...

Re: Window Regulator Replacement

I replaced mine with a Dorman. It works just like stock and comes with a lifetime warranty. It was a fairly simple install. I watched a video on youtube since this was my first time replacing one. It took me about an hour or so to replace the window regular with motor and get it all buttoned back up. Half of that time was looking for tools, lol.
