A straightened tie rod, new tie rod ends, steering stabilizer attached...a good day. I am waiting for a connecting link for the steering linkage. I’ll start cleaning crossmembers soon in preparation for paint, and then opening up the truck.

Prepping more parts. Notice the V8 crossmember I’m grinding on...last pic shows Dolly waiting patiently...

Getting closer... That is a nice looking shop also.

Thanks...I always wanted a shop like this while I was in college (for years); I am thankful and glad I have it.

Yes, with every part that’s cleaned up, I inch closer to that day. After the crossmembers are cleaned, I think I’ll tackle the transmission/transfer case prep.

The proverbial “disconnect and remove the battery” photo, followed by draining of the radiator, as I am changing the motor.

I am going to remove the front clip to gain good access. First, I remove the wipers, and don’t forget to BAG all the little screws from the cowl.

Here, I document the number of spacers between the fenders and cab.

Off to the races...I am going to try leaving the hood on the clip, so I am just going after the bolts that attach the clip to the cab and front frame.

It’s easy to forget this bolt in the process...note the backing plate that goes between the fender and the cab.

I am taking this support bar off the drivers side fenderwell because I am going to leave the fenderwells on the clip, and with the steering in the way, it’s gotta go. I taped the bolts onto the bar once it was removed.

That’s what I got done for today, as I was working on a new project with some paint touch up...plus I was by myself, and I’m going to have to have help managing the clip removal.

I'm amazed that everything is unbolting. It's going to look good as a 4x4.

Agreed...so far, so good.

You will be ready for the snow at this rate. You know there is a tool to remove the wiper arms so you don't have to pry with a screwdriver?

I might be ready. You never know when it’ll come in this neck of the woods.

If you can, send me a picture of the tool you mentioned.

Lifting the nose off the frame...passenger side was stubborn and gave way to a 3 lb sledge...then I propped the sides up waiting for assistance.

Help arrived and we got the clip removed and placed in the yard. This was a big deal for me...NO turning back.

I'm surprised you only needed the 3# only once. Don't drink to much and run over the clip with the medium duty.....lol

Now, I’m going to “top half” the motor, preparing for removal...all electrical, and mechanical that can’t stay with the motor are removed, arranged and marked. These pics will assure I place the small clips, pins etc in the right spot when I put this together.

Next is this Double BBQ Burger...one bun as I’m watching my Carbs.

Removing the shift handle pin on top the trans is left, and then I can “bottom half” the drivetrain...another day.

You’re very right...only one instance in which I had to use the enforcer...I’m quite surprised. No heat wrench yet, either.
