67 C10 SWB 5 lug/bolt conversion
I have searched the board and found many unanswered threads.
I have a 67 2wd SWB C10 pickup and want to swap the 6 bolt setup for a 5 bolt so I can run some 15x8 Chevy Rallys I have and improve my wheel selection down the road. What is required to do this? Swapping parts from a 71-72 1/2 ton truck or buy a kit? Thanks, Joe |
I think easiest is to find a 71-72 truck, and swap spindle outward including out tie rod, and for rear, just swap entire rear end.
I got my front end from a 1975 truck, and used a ford 9inch rear from a lincoln (rear disc with 5 on 5 lug pattern). I also added a one ton sway bar from a 1976 truck, and used a 6inch/4inch drop kit from Early Classic that included a new adjustable panhard bar and mounts. So there are several things you can do. Cheapest is to find the parts from a junkyard truck. |
Thanks John.
That seems like the best/cheapest way to convert to 5 lug in general. What about being able to run the passenger car Chevy Rallys that I have? I'd rather buy the right size parts then do the swap and install an adapter kit. |
Not sure if there is any way to use those, but you can buy Corvette ralleys that fit trucks. I can't remember who sells them, but they are on the internet somewhere.

I have seen those wheels.
Trouble is, I have a mint set I was hoping to use on the truck. |
Different
Don't forget the car wheels were mostly 4 3/4" bolt pattern as the truck is 5".Just thought I would remind you I will leave now:burnout:

Measure the pattern on the wheels you have. There are two different patterns for cars. 5 on 5 and 5 on 4.75

I'll measure the wheels this weekend to be sure.
Thanks. |
