You can have "the look", great handling and any size brake package imaginable. Dave Kindig used the same concept on the "Blue Suede Shoes" build a couple years ago, but I'm not sure he was the first to do it either. Cool idea anyway...

They were marketed as "Port-A-Walls" back in the day, and are still called that in some circles, per the Google search...

From looking at the cutaway pic it looks like the white part is part of the wheel.

Get the look of 15 inch wheels with none of the ride quality benefits at four times the price!

 that's pretty much what I was thinking. You have to be really into the sleeper look if you go this route. They do look very convincing which makes using these even more puzzling. I personally like the built in white wall wheels that Delmo makes which are a 22" scaled up version of stock wheels. I still don't really see the point of the built in whitewall (why not just run a 20" wheel with a white wall tire?) but the wheels are nice.

These have been around for a few years. They have been at the Detroit Autorama with the same cutout wheel on display for at least the last 2 years. Cool concept for a restomod.

wouldn't work to well on michigan pot holes
multiple of mine neighbors whine and beotch about low profile tires when they bend a rim

I think it’s a great idea since you can run a WIDE tire that isn’t made in Wife white walls in 20”. Cool idea but they’re pricey.

Running a set of those you should install a backup camera aimed at the curb when you parallel park.

I see the put those on a few cars on *****in rides over the years and they do look presentable on the rigs they put them on.

As for myself I'll stay with the 15 inch wheels, hubcaps and 225 tires and a lot smoother ride and no broke or bent rims.

I ran into a kid at the tire store a while back that had 20 something inch rims on his ride who had bent a rim in the first couple of days he had the wheels and tires. The tits were still showing on the damaged tire on the ruined wheel and his mom wasn't even happy that they had to spring for a new wheel and tire for it.

That was my exact though. I have 18 inch wheels on my current truck with low profile tires and it feels every little bump in the road.

I don't really see the point...

Only reason I can see is if you wanted to put 14" and larger rotors/brakes on your truck. Pro-touring guys may like them...

The fact that they can make them is amazing.

Re: just when you think you seen it all cool stuff

Well rough ride/smooth ride my 77 dualie flatbed rides smoother than my 2000 Cad Deville or my 98 BMW do with 17 inch rims on both of them. I'd swear you can drive over a quarter with the BMW with the 235 45 17 tires and tell heads or tales.

That old 1 ton is a bit light on the front wheels with the 10 ft bed and hoist but the wife never complains about it riding rough like she does in the Cad.

The 48 gets 225 75 15 wide whites this time around and I hope a ride to match.
