Now It's A Truck

When I went to look at this truck I thought wow, I really like that cover. First time I went to get mulch I figured out maybe it wasn't so great. Also figured out if I ever take another one off I probably won't do by myself.

They look nice but sure can be a pain in the butt if you want to haul anything!
At least they’re easy to store against the wall.

Build yourself some sides and a front with plywood and 2x2 stakes in the pockets and then use that cover for the roof and you will have yourself a topper!

Not sure how to make a lift gate real easy ... maybe "barn doors" that hinge off the rear stakes ???

I had one on my '03 Sierra. Cost more money than it was worth, but saved my stuff more than once. Sucks for hauling loads.

I want to cover my bed to keep crap out of it, but I don't want to drill my bedrails so I'm skipping getting one of the button-down tonneaus. I'm really interested in the 3-piece folding/removable tonneau though. I just haven't found one I'm happy with the price and quality on. Seems like there's a lot of crap out there costing 3x what it's probably worth.

Just build something out of 2x4's and plywood. Nail/screw it together like a short section of wall, and clamp/bolt it down flat across the bed rails.

With 2x4's across a <6' span, you could probably dance up there

Soft covers are the only way to go. I remove and install mine at least 20 times a year. Takes 30seconds coming off and maybe 60 seconds going back on. Nothing to leave anywhere either it all just goes with you in the bed with the load. Easy peasy.

I liked it on my 02. It was nice when I went to truck events far away, that way I didn't have to unload my stash into a hotel room every night. But, it was a pain for loads. Luckily I have 2 trucks so I normally had one with open bed. I doubt I'll ever do one again, soft or hard. MY DD and my toy now both have open beds, with tool boxes.
