Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Hey guys. I've been trolling around for about a year now reading up on ls swaps and I've finally pulled the trigger on my own! I got an 06 LQ4 with 118k on it a week ago for $1200 and I've been hard at it cleaning, painting, and ordering parts. I've got lots of questions and I'm sure I'm in the right place for answers so hopefully this helpful bunch can get me swapped out and driving in the next month or two.... Heres the plan..
LQ4/4L80 swap. I'm also installing the 25 gallon fuel tank out of an 87 blazer, ac delco pump and corvette filter/regulator. All this is already ordered along with a set of cheap ebay swap headers(hey, I'm on a budget). This is going into my 74 stepside, hence the name project Steppin Wolf. Now, before I get blasted.....how the heck do I go about posting pics??

Well, till I figure out how to get some pics up, how bout I go on to a few questions? I'm using my stock radiator so what radiator hoses do I use? I am also missing the harness that goes from the TAC module to the gas pedal and was wondering if anyone might have one for sale. I found custom made ones for $50 on Ebay but was hoping to find one a bit cheaper.

The new fuel pump, sending unit, and tank straps for the blazer tank should all be here tomorrow so I can start figuring out my fuel system. I'm also waiting on my headers and still looking for a decent deal on a 4L80 transmission.

Well, I got my harness and ECU shipped off to Jesse at Wait4me Performance today. Tank straps for the blazer tank came in today as well so if I get some time off work this weekend I may start trying to figure out my mounts for that and where Im gonna run the filler tube to. I had a brain storm awhile ago but Im gonna save it as a surprise if it works out.... ;)

That engine looked so nice I wouldnt have touched it! Im lazy though.

Can you post pics of the harness? I was thinking of using them for my swap. Did you like the result?

So I got my sending unit in today and I've got some questions regarding npt to an adapters and electrical connections....

Liltroy 05-17-2015 02:38 AM

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

so first off, does anyone know what size these threaded npt,s are? I want to order the correct npt to AN adapters. I'm thinking one is 3/8 and the other 5/16? also, do I just use a vacuum cap on the fourth line since im not going to be using the evap system? and finally, what is this electrical connector for the fuel pump and fuel gauge sender called and where can I buy a female to match it? I realize I could just hardwire the two wires but Id love to have the correct connector for it instead.

There are so many threads on here it is hard to get any attention unless you have some crazy work. I haven't done my swap yet so I don't want to answer questions I may be wrong on. Check out this:

found some adapters made by Russell and ordered them today. Found the matching weather-pac connector at pep boys yesterday.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

The engine I got didnt have the harness that goes from the pedal to the Tac Module so I ordered a brand new one from PSI Conversions.

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8ckcd1yr.jpg

Also found an Ebay company that sells the vette filter/regulator with all the AN-6 adapters includung one for your fuel rail in one kit. For the price, I basically got the fuel rail adapter for free.

Fuse Block

more stuff should be coming in tommorrow.
Now if I could just get some time off to actually use some of this crap!!! LOL

Ok. Got my attention. I'm just about to start my 5.3 swap. Where are u getting all the fuel fittings ? What's the pump from? Part number? What's the fuse block for?

Liltroy 05-18-2015 11:14 PM

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

fuel pump is an AC Delco EP381, the filter/regulator and the fittings that came with were found in an "LS swap fuel kit" on ebay. all the other fittings are being ordered from summit racing.fuse block and the relays that arent here yet are to tie into wire harness for ignition, fuel pump, and whatever else...maybe electric fan later on. Ill be making a list of expenses and part numbers at some point.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Here is a screenshot of the fittings and hose i ordered tonight to run my fuel system. the gauge takeoff is optional as I'm choosing to install a small gauge on the back of my fuel rail

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/...pso4tcojoj.png

Thhis is the filter/regulator/fitting kit I got off ebay. It has the new screw on Russell fittings instead of the old quick connects.
