Wiring dual compressors
 

Hey guys, I have two Viair 444c compressors. WhatÂ’s the best way to run the main power from battery to the relays? IÂ’ve seen diagrams where it looks like it has one main wire from battery (with 60 amp inline fuse) going to a distribution block then split off that to the relays. I talked to Viair and they said they recommend running two separate wires with 40amp fuses from the battery to the relays. I like the one wire to a fuses distribution block idea for a more clean look. How do yÂ’all have yours ran?

I have an 8 Ga. wire running from the battery through a 70 amp circuit breaker back to a distribution block on the rear-most crossmember. From there to each compressor, i have an inline fuse before the relay and the compressor power positive wire connects directly to the relay.

Thanks for the reply. That’s what I’ll probably go with. One thought though. 8gauge seems a little small for a 70amp fuse. Am I wrong in thinking that? Thought I saw where #8 rated for 55amps-#6 rated for 65 amps.

I used Painless wiring P/N 70690. According to their specs that wire is rated to 90 Amps, if you click on the Specs tab. I have checked to see if the wire was getting hot while both Viair 480 compressors were running, and it was as cool as normal. I also have my Accuair e-level ECU powered off of that main run to the back.

I think I got the power wiring kit from Accuair. Made it super easy.
