Speedo Issue

Ive read a bunch of threads but didnt see an answer.

I recently bought a 96 C1500 from the original elderly owner. 305/AT

No mods or major repair work. The truck is as it was driven off the lot new.

Stock tire size.

At 70 mph, the speedo reads 83 mph.

This seems to be a common problem and I am surprised that I have not been able to find a solution.

It must be the speed sensor on the tranny or a bad cluster.

Everything else on the truck works as it should.

Any ideas?

Re: Speedo Issue

You can check the speed that is given to the computer with a scanner. If that's correct, it's the gauge. If the computer speed is off too, then it's the speed sensor in the tailshaft.
