Rear suspension for my 1950

I just got my front suspension installed and now I'm ready for the rear. My front end is now raised, can I simply bolt on a rear axle under rear springs to even height? Is there anything else needed? I thought getting rid of the torque tube meant axle could move around am I wrong?

What about adding a different suspension. Could I, has anyone, used the rear hangers and springs from a c10? Any pics or links to a good thread would be great. I would go ahead and put the c10 springs on but I'm concerned and bout the 1950 3100 having wider rails.

if you wanna move the axle you may need to get rid of the torque tube. that means the rear of the trans goes away as well in order to accept a standard slip yoke and open driveshaft.
I have heard guys are using the spring hanger brackets from a ford ranger and/or leaf springs from an S10. dunno for sure though. the spring hanger brackets are available aftermarket. you could try a gm axle but the width will be wrong for your old truck. S10- maybe the closest

Front end is from c10. I know... a little wide and will stick out or need offset wheels. I've seen a couple done this way and it looks good to me. Raised like 4 inches so I might need to lower it. New engine and trans will be a stock 350/350.

Is it popular to have suspension brackets for leafsprings on the outside of frame for these trucks? How about having axle under springs like my c10 is?
