Muffler shops usually have weld in bungs for o2 sensors to screw in. Your doing a nice job so far I like all the work you have done so far.

Thanks Jason, the muffler shop is welding in the bungs for the o2 sensors but im trying to find out if I can eliminate the rear set. I know I have to keep the front set. I need to find some software that I can reprogram the computer for different things like tire size, rear o2 sensor delete, etc.

I really like the solution for the firewall. Once I get to that stage I will be doing a ton of measurements! What other major issues have you run into so far that I need to keep in mind while doing mine? Just looking for some input.

Wow, what a build. And only about 45 minutes away from me! What color red is that? I'm also eager to see what you do on the cowl panel to tie the two-tone together. It's looking great!

If I had to do it over again I probably would not have went with the tahoe factory air box and used vintage air instead. I just really wanted to incorporate the dual heat and air into the 72 chevy truck. The downside is that it takes up all the room behind the dash and you have to relocate almost everything in the dash panel. There wont be much of a glove box area either. I am building a custom center console to house everything that that was in the dash before. I did start a console already but have decided to scrap that one and went with a whole new design. Ive been working a lot lately and only have a few hours a week to work on the truck. And on top of that we leave today to go on a cruise for a week. Ive rebuilt several of these trucks and they are fun to do, but this is the first conversion I have done. Im just learning as I go and hope it all is killer when Im finished. If you have any questions just ask and ill help anyway I can.

So did the shop paint everything at the same time or in pieces as they progressed? I am about to start spraying and worried about panels matching a week apart.

The color is gm victory red. The cowl will be all white except for the 2 outer edges and they will be red.

And thats cool your so close. if your in the area give me a hollar and stop by sometime.

Well i havnt had a lot of time to work on the truck too much the past week but I have got a little done. I blended the tahoe and the truck radiator supports togather, I installed my power windows and power locks, my door glass with new tracks and new window vent assemblies. I also got the steering colum, brake system, pedals, etc. installed in the truck. I love the power windows and the power locks. they are super fast. I should have the hood back in the next couple of days so I can see how far off my fenders, and front support are. Also test fit the front end with the old grille just to see how it fits. I didnt want to scratch up the new grille just yet.

I used the Electric-Life Power Window Kit. I ordered it from summit racing. It was super easy to install. Litterally took 10 minutes to install both sides. As for the power locks I ordered a pair of UNIVERSAL HIGH POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATORs and installed them. Super easy as well.

Just a FYI....I orderd the universal power windows kit from autoloc. They claim it fits the 67-72 chevy trucks but it required too much modification to make it worth it for me. I abandoned them and ordered the electric life kit. Best thing I could have done.

Man, this thing is looking killer! Where did you order your replacement body panels from, and how happy are you with the fitment? I am wanting to convert my 70 to a 67-68 front end.

Thanks billybob. I ordered all my panels from LMC truck. They were pretty good but there where some spots here and there that had to be worked but not too much.

Ok ive had my new door seals setting in the box for a couple months now waiting to put them on. I got them out today and went to install them. They suck big time. I have to slam the doors really hard to get the doors to shut. That was not going to work. Then I remembered reading on here a while back about the seals taking forever to break in and that the dodge dakota seals work really well. So....I made a trip to the u-pull salvage yard today and found myself a set of door seals from a 95 dodge dakota. They look exactly like the new ones i have but they are really soft. and you dont have to glue them on they are push on. I also pickup up a couple door rubber grommets to run my power window and door lock wiring in. I had to try the door seals right away. and success.... they were 3 inches too long so I cut off the excess. The doors shut now without having to slam them.

The next thing is I need some advice. I took off my tahoe exhaust and put on stainless short headers and was planning on installing true duel exhast with glass packs. the question is : I dont know what to do about the 2nd oxygen sensor. It is suppose to be after the cats, but if i run new exhaust I wont have any cats. so.......should I just put the factory exhaust back on with the stock muffler? I was really hoping for a little more sound but I dont want it to be extremly loud. Im open for any input. thanks in advance.

You can leave the rear 02 sensors out and either remove wiring to them or tape off inside the loom. Your ecm will need to be reflashed to delete the rear o2 sensors. The rear ones monitor cat converter function and won't effect how it runs. I deleted rear o2 sensors on mine and had ecm reflashed.
