Converting a 1968 k10 to power steering.
Can someone direct me to an existing thread that would help me work out the details of converting a 1968 k10 to power steering? I have a 1985 Corp 10bolt front axle, power steering box, pump and new control arm, drive links, and pitman arm. I just need to attach the box to the frame with the correct geometry. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Converting a 1968 k10 to power steering.
I don't know of a thread to share on this, and I have not done this swap. But I have always felts it would be exactly what you are doing...change everything involved. Probably all you need is the location of the steering box on a '70-'72 from a given point on the frame, since frames are no different other than steering box mounting. Pick a point and I'll see what I can do on my '72. What would be better is if someone has an open chassis.

ck with captain fab he makes what you need. plate to mount the steering box.

Re: Converting a 1968 k10 to power steering.
68 frame should be dimpled where the box bolts on. So everything is a bolt on, 'cept the pressure line unless you use the 85 pump with the early brackets depending on which engine you have and the pulley system

Re: Converting a 1968 k10 to power steering.
68 frame is not dimpled for PS. I did this swap on my hulk jr build around post 63 link is in my signature. I used captain fabs bracket and a steering shaft I met I found at CPP. I used stock 72 PS hoses from the parts store
I hope this helps |

If it is a real 68 it should be dimpled

Maybe a half year thing? Early 68 versus a late 68? 69 up had the dimpled frames. Interesting non the less. |
Re: Converting a 1968 k10 to power steering.
See post number 7
I have 2 68s both were dimpled. Every 68 I've seen has been, beit manual or power steering. Never seen an assisted 68 only 67 and older |
Re: Converting a 1968 k10 to power steering.
Well check out my post 6. It has directions to a true 1968 k10 LWB that is not dimpled. Because you haven’t seen one! After you check it out you can say you have ;). Good luck Clivis.
