Re: Spring Problems

It’s frustrating, especially at this point, but it’s relatively cheap and bolt on!

Re: Spring Problems

Can I just get that one spring or do they come complete?

I guess I should get both sides

Re: Spring Problems

If they are breaking they are all due.... I don't think you could buy just a top leaf unless you went to a spring shop.

Any recommended places to buy springs?

If you want used ones I've maybe got some... (depending whether you have 52" or 56" of course.)

They're heavy though, so shipping may be a beast

Ive bought springs from General Spring KC and Michigan Spring - both seemed to be great springs. Shipping is high but not as bad as you would think.

Main leaf broken......have them rebuilt or buy a different set

I've used these guys twice for two sets of 56" springs. They also sell just the main spring as well. Reasonable with good shipping. Mike

Now I'm wondering if someone intalled the wrong springs way back when.

I'm counting 8 leafs. I don't think I need this many as this is a 1/2 ton short bed 2wd.

What spring count should I get?

Re: Spring Problems

After measuring the springs, it looks like I'll have to replace with the same type as they measure at 26"x30"

Re: Spring Problems

My guess is that it’s a 56” spring (eyelet to eyelet = Big10/HeavyHalf truck)??

Re: Spring Problems

Sorry, didn’t see your last post. I removed a couple springs on my 56” springs. Mike

Re: Spring Problems

The rear spring set up is set up for 3/4 ton like said heavy 1/2.ton
I had 8 put in one more leaf per side.
So if your not going to ever load more then the 1/2ton you could take two leafs per side.

But doing that....will it change the ride height?

Re: Spring Problems

YES but very little. But it up to you it will save you some money.
But if you never going to need the extra load of the extra spring then
your wasting money + the ride will be a little smoother I can tell you because with 9 leafs per side much harsher ride unloaded, drives like a caddy when load.
