A few Questions..

I have a 72 Sub. Just got last week.
Has 1968 396/T350 with a Factory posi 3:73 (yes I know 396 not OE)

Also this has the lift gate in the back, not the side doors.

1.) Anybody know how many were made with the lift gate style?
2.) Does anyone make an aftermarket rear lift door?
3.) How many and where are they, the nuts/bolts for the dash pad

Welcome to the board!

I don't know how many were produced with the gate.

There was a guy in AZ making them out of fiberglass at one time (at least he started to) He got mad because he had to be a paying member to sell them on here and dropped the project, that's my understanding anyway.....

There are 7 nuts and 4 or 5 screws that hold the dash pad to the dash. Your best bet to get to the fasteners it is to remove the gauge cluster and glove box liner. There are multiple threads on the board on how to remove the cluster and GB liner.

Re: A few Questions..

Welcome aboard neighbor. Sounds like a nice truck. No aftermarket lift gate that I am aware of. There are some threads on rebuilding them.
There are about 6-8 screws on the bottom that go in from the lower part of the pad in the passenger compartment and the same number of nuts that go on studs from under the dash. There are a bunch of threads that cover it do a search above. Here is one of them.

I think if you look in the sticky threads above there is one on production numbers. Some years are broken down by rear door style.

Oh and everyone wants pictures.
