1998 wiper motor wiring

3 Attachment(s)
I am updating my 53 pickup wipers.

I reworked the spline shafts for each wiper arm and am using Ford focus rear wiper arms and bosch 13" wiper blades for more complete coverage and a more durable setup.

I made a new transmission setup for the linkages and used modern plastic ball joint type links.

I am planning on using a 1998 chevy pickup wiper motor setup with a custom mounting plate under the dash.

My question: does anyone know the wiring for this motor setup?
it has five wires; white, black, grey, orange, and purple.

Thanks.

not sure how the switch interacts with the motor, but here's the wiring diagram

try reading these 2 threads to get the switch wiring correct
what switch do you have?

Re: 1998 wiper motor wiring

your going to need a new wiper switch typical of any turn switch mounted wiper switch
google any 90s gm wiper and you'll come up with this same basic solid state wiper diagram for 5 wires
white is keyed power, black is ground, purple is high speed, if all you want is high speed wipers that's easy
you'll need the newer switch to get anything other than high speed all controlled by the switch and the gray wire
and 20 diodes :D

Re: 1998 wiper motor wiring

Awesome,

That is just what I needed in those two posts.

I am using a 1992 GMC van column with the multi function switch so I think I'll be able to hook up all functions.

For now, I just need to get rotation and park position to confirm my mechanical linkage works correctly.

I'll post results when it all works.

Thank you very much!

Re: 1998 wiper motor wiring

if the wiring is not the same for the wipers just swap out the 92 wiper switch for the 98 switch
you can typically swap out the wiper switch on the multifunction switch arm
most wiper/cruise switches are just stuck into the turn/dim/multifunction switch
push in and turn to release the switch arm

That's what I was thinking about also, switching the switch the switch
if I need to.
Thanks again.
