New guy with questions

Just picked up a 59 swb fleetside. Nova clip and rear end. Bags on the rear. 1st question I wanna swap it to a 55-57 front end. Will the 59 inner fenders work with 55-57 fenders? Will post some pics soon.

Nope. Inners are different as are many other things. Should've bought a 567 and bolted on a 58/59 fleetside box...much easier.

I originally wanted the 55-57 when I found my 59. I did some research on swapping the front end. While it can be done, I would suggest waiting a while before you make the decision to swap. I have grown to be extremely fond of my 4 eye and wouldn't think of changing it now.

Another thing to keep in mind is the wheelbase. When the clip job was done, depending on where the wheelbase was set, the tire might look too far forward in the 567 fenders.

Due to the shape of the 58-59 fenders, builders generally push the wheelbase further forward on a 58-59 to make the tires look centered in the fender opening.

Re: New guy with questions

the 567 trucks have a whole different front section, including a longer frame to accommodate the longer fenders etc. the rad support brackets are also in a different place on the frame. I went from a 58 frame to a 57 body. the cab etc is the same but the rest of the stuff in front of that is different. in your case the frame extensions for the bumper would need to be cut off a bit, about 2 inches by a guess, and the rad support frame brackets would need to be moved back some but otherwise it should work, depending on where the suspension clip was terminated and the new frame horns were added for the bumper. the cab and front wheel axle center line didn't change so the wheels would look the same in the openings as far as center line is concerned but the shape of the openings is a bit different so, like 59chev says, watch the "look" with a tire on that is the final overall size you will be using. mock it up and see, not much to undo for a body clip swap. use some wood blocks on the frame for a fake rad support height and go for it. worst case scenario you stick the old front end back on.
post some pics. we could see what you are working with.

On posting photos. click on go advance down at the bottom of the quick reply and when the next page comes up Click on th paper clip to the right of the smily face at the top. That opens up a manage attachments page and you go from there.

Just thinking, a subframed truck may not be as hard to swap noses on as a stock frame truck but you will still have to do a lot of sheet metal trimming before it's over.

the frame on the 58-9 trucks is 2 1/2 inches longer out front. not a big deal to cut off and drill a couple new bolts for the bumper. the rad support has to move back as well.
