dropping my 86 swb

am gonna drop my 86 swb this week. i have a flip kit for the rear which looks like it will get me about 5" in the rear. I am gonna put 2-1/2" drop spidles in the front an was wondering about how many coils to cut off the springs to get another 2" of drop in the front ? 1? 1-1/2"? 2? coils ??????
thanks in advance for the input !!

Usually one full coil is equal to 2"of drop...

Re: dropping my 86 swb

i did 1 coil, as well as 2.5 drop spindles.
now since i removed alot of weight out the front end, it sits higher than the rear, so now ill eventually do drop coils

Cutting a coil out of the springs will give you a much stiffer, bouncier ride, not to mention the spring end you cut won't seat as well as a "closed and ground" end. Much better to buy lowering springs which take care of both issues.

BTW, I think the math is 1" shorter coil spring = approx 1.8" at wheel.
