should i sell my 350?

Im gonna build the 454 for my truck. Right now i dont drive it because of steering work, gauge work and alittle more suspension work is needed. The starter went out the other day and i have a spare. But im needing opinions as to whether should even keep messing with the sbc or not. I dont have use for it, i mean my dads s10 just died so i could swap it in. But i have enough projects to play with. Its an older 350 alittle greasey but runs good and no smoke and its a 0010 block which is a 4blt main with headers. Its got a good t350 behind it that the gasket leaks but ive got a shift kit for it. Pretty much what im asking is should i hold onto this motor and trans or pull it out and sell it and use the money to finance the bbc? What would be a fair price on a 0010 high nickel blocked 350 with headers and alum intake amd for the trans with new shift kit? Ive also got a set of 461 true 2.02 heads that need one new valve guide and cleaning. Have new compcams springs for higher lift cam. And ive cleaned the valves up already and could clean the heads up too. Just trying to get ideas on what i should do and values. Thanks guys

Also a head bolt kit and new noisy gear drive. Just trying to figure out what to do with all of it.

Not all 010 blocks are 4-bolt mains, I have had quite a few over the years that were 2-bolt.

You did not say if you actually had the pan off to check? Something you might verify before you list it as a 4-bolt.

there aint much resale value in older 350 motors so if it is half decent and reliable runner and i had the room i'd store it away for a rainy day/// around here you'd b lucky to get a core price of 50-100// the smaller stuff like the heads springs and gear drive i'd put on craigslist

I would sell it complete and running to get top dollar. For someone to put it in a truck or swap in, you won't get much. Your best bet would be someone restoring a Camaro or Corvette that needed a date code and casting number. Complete and running with trans as you say, I'd ask $750. As far as the heads go, they are also almost just scrap iron these days. Nobody building performance wants those any more. Everybody wants at least Vortecs or aftermarket. You will have to spend $500 or so to do guides and seats, etc. Then they don't flow like what you can buy new for the same money. The only way to sell those anymore is number matching restoration if the dates are good or maybe dirt track racers with specific rules. I have a set too and they just don't move anymore in my experience.

Ive seen several 350's in various conditions, with and without transmissions for sale in the midwest the last few months.
Prices go from 300 to 700. But, If you get more than the minimum youll be lucky. People dont seem too inclined to spend much on a used engine of unknown quality.

you might be better off fogging the engine & saving for later project or possibly bartering material. sometimes you get what you want & someone gets what they want. but people are right. for the price alot of people are going crate engines. i don't always agree. can't beat old iron.

I am looking for a deal like that and I am within driving distance. MY BB is shot so i was gonna run a small block for now. I am planning to go 350 hunting in the morning.

I would keep the 350 and get the truck going first. Then if you want a BB build it.Then swap it in and sell the 350.It's not much fun to ave a truck to work on that you can never driveBy getting it driveable, you will probably stay more motivated.JMHO
