Intake manifold bolts
Hello members I’m installing new intake gaskets on my 89 K5 Blazer with
350 TBI. I have to purchase new bolts due to old ones being corroded and rusty. They are 3/8”. What is the max length I can go with ? I know too long they will interfere with some of the pushrods. Thanks for any assistance. |

I just looked that up for my 327 and they said 1 inch is the longest to use. I just googled it and came up with lots of responses and I checked a few to make sure they were all saying the same length. I don't know if 1 inch is the right length for yours though.

I would measure the original ones that came out of the intake and go with that. maybe take one of the originals with you when you go to ACE hardware and get 16 of them...this way you won't bend a pushrod with a bolt that was to long....

I couldn’t find old ones probably tossed them. I took the grinder to the bolts made
them 1–1/8” long. This plus a washer I’m in the 1”-1-1/16” length range. It just appears to me 1” bolts with a washer are too short. |

I'm thinking the intake bolts should be 1-1/4" long.

1-1/4'' like the Captain said, they won't hit the center pushrods. If you're worried, look at them with the valve cover off

Hello morning I completed the job yesterday and all is well engine running nice. Now on to the next project steering box and tailgate window cable. Thanks for the assistance everyone

Teflon paste on the threads will keep oil from creeping up the threads of the center bolts and creating leaks onto you intake.

If they were to leak thru would it be a good idea or not to remove one bolt at a time to apply Teflon paste. I did place a dab of silicone on each bolt before hand. I went over the bolts several times afterwards with the torque wrench making sure they were fully set.
