Engine replacment pains

Morning all Well it finally happened. Water in the oil pan so I have a beautiful milkshake inside a 97 7.4 Vortec Aghhh Anyway I knew I had a blown head gasket and parked it at home so It should be safe from cracks and such it also sounded like a lifter (Hyd roller) was collapsing. I'm actually looking at a reman from Powertrain Direct mostly because of the warranty plus they can finance. Yes I would absolutely love a OEM long block but I would be looking at $5800 which is about $3K more then I have. Im stuck driving a Camry cause my 3500 CC/Dually (Daily driver)is wounded and it hurts especially being in the "Land of the Prius drives" (San Francisco Bay Area). Help a brother out guys I will listen to any suggestion.... Thanks

GM offers 2 engines, a brand new one and a remanufactured one. They have the same warranty.

A new one lists for $5806.67 and has a $600 core charge.

The reman is $3599.58 and has a $300 core charge.

I put a reman in my 99 in 2017.

A rebuild kit and some machine work would be a lot cheaper.

I know your right but I'm also looking at time. I am going nuts driving my Camry and it sucks having to borrow a truck to pick up plywood or go to the dumps.
I did come up with another plan tho. After I buy the reman I'm going to keep the core then when I finish rebuilding my Nova's 454 I'm going to rebuild this one. I will have the time and money to piece it together.
