FatMat in the doors
 

Last night I installed some FatMat in my doors. Seems to have made them quieter but they are definitely more solid now when closing.

Next over the holiday weekend ill pull the seat and carpet and do the floor and over the front of the gas tank.

I notice the carpet only goes up so far, so I am thinking ill have to paint the aluminum on the FatMat a flat black where it is exposed.

Was thinking under the kick panels too since I have kick panel speakers.

Anyone have any tips or pointers with the installation areas?

The only that about installing matting is it can hole moisture and start rusting door in time

If you still have access to where you've put the fatmat in your doors, I'm going to offer you some sage advice. I used fatmat in my doors also -- the exact brand FatMat.

After 9 months to a year, the adhesive failed. I am pretty sure there was a good clean surface in the doors, as I had the bottoms of the doors cut off to replace rusted metal. I cleaned out the inside of the doors, painted them with Eastwood's rust encapsulator and later applied the fatmat.

It may just be that fatmat won't stick to rust encapsulator, I don't know, but I had to go back and use a sealant to re-apply the fatmat inside the door.

I haven't had any issues with the fatmat on the floor of the cab, just the vertical placement in the doors. I would recommend a good 3M adhesive applied to be sure the fatmat stays in place.

I would recommend using CLD tiles. You only need 10% coverage and the stuff works well.
