Tires and wheels
I know this has been covered some ware, but the quick and nasty, will 33-12.5-15 mud tires fit on the stock rims and will they fit with out rubbing on stock suspension?

Re: Tires and wheels
Yes, I was able to get 33x12.5r15's under stock suspension. Just mount the front tire and check the clearance of the fender wells. If you hit a big bump while turning, you might get a touch of rub, but each truck is a little different.
Most tire shops will mount one to be sure it will clear the front area, before mounting the remaining 3. |
Re: Tires and wheels
Test fitting is the only way to know for sure. 33/12.5/15s rub on my fenders. I went ahead and got them based on the general online consensus that they fit... Now I'm looking for a small lift.

When I got my '83 it had 33/12.5's on the stock white steelies and no lift. They rubbed occasionally.
I'm assuming it has standard 3.07/3.08 gears with the 700r4. Because - What a dog! The trans fluid smells burned (not surprising). I put 235/75's on it right away. Hopefully the trans will last with a fluid flush. |
Re: Tires and wheels
They can be mounted on stock rims.
Will look kind of bulgy. Clearance wise without any lift the rear will be fine. On the front make a cut from the bottom up on the lip at the bottom front of the fender about 1 inch in and fold this portion up with a hammer. You may think you have enough clearance now but the day will come when you will hit a bump with the wheels turned, you might get lucky and not cut your new tire up but you will fold up the fender lip with less finesse than if you cut it first. |
