Dana 60 front swap/ lift - picture request.
 

As discussed on my previous thread I was wondering about axles.
I think I have decided on keeping the Eaton rear for now until I need parts.
I'm pretty sure I have a dana 60 front lined up with the 4.10 gear to match with the rear.

I have not picked up the suburban yet and as soon as I do I am going to do a lift, and axle swap at a buddys shop so I am trying to get all parts in order so I can make it a weekend project.

I have read through so many posts with different advise regarding lift and ride quality. I plan on making this a camping/ small camper towing/ trail rig. No serous off road.

I don't want this to look like a monster truck, I don't want to go any higher than a 4inch lift and maybe would just do a 2.5.

I've read that tuff country ez ride is popular but some say they sag on the passenger side. Basically for every suggestion i read someone else says something different.

I can get a very good deal on an all spring 4 inch rough country with all parts that has never been installed. I've read that its a rough ride but i've also read that rough country has cleaned up its act in recent years and is a great product. Its brand new as of this year and in the box

I want to do this right the first time, I don't want to drive a hay wagon.

I pick this up next week so I don't have many new photos yet.

What lift brand and how tall do you guys think I should use?
the truck will have a 700r4 and probably 33 tires.

Could you guys post pics of your 67-72 suburbans with lift brand and tire size?

Any other suggestions would be great.

I have so many more questions and am doing things a little out of order but I need to get parts lined because of my limited access to a shop with a lift.

One thing to keep in mind is that a D60 up front will add more than 1" of lift over a D44 or 10 bolt. It might even be closer to 2". I had to add a 2" add-a-leaf to my rear springs to level my truck. I used a 6" lift and should have started with a 4" lift because now it is too tall.

Believe it or not this is a tough country 2" lift.

I don't remember the tire size right off hand (and the Sub is sitting in the shop at work) but the tires are not less then 31".

To me, it looks like a 4" lift but I checked the part numbers on the springs and checked correct for a 2" lift.

edit to add, I have experience no sagging with my springs. I purchased their premium shocks but still consider the ride harsh over sharp bumps. I wonder if Bilsteins would have been a better choice.

I didn't realize how much larger that axle really was, I wonder if I should just do a 2 inch front lift and a 4 inch rear?

What axles are you running?
I saw your truck in another post and couldn't believe that was only a 2 inch lift, what brand lift are you running?

Dana 44 front and 14 bolt rear. This is the Tuff Country kit I purchased:

2" EZ Ride with SX8000 shocks

I did add a 1" block to the rear to level it out

I can't offer much advice there, but I also have a 14 bolt rear which I thought would account for the higher front due to the D60's spring perches being higher than a D44. My truck is a 68 and 67-68 have different springs which made finding a lift difficult and that may have exaggerated my problem.

Not a Burb but that is 4" springs in front and a shackle flip in the rear with 33" BFGs. The springs are Rough Country and they are just that "ROUGH". I don't mind the ride, but some do. I'm sure the added weight and length of a Burb would smooth it out some, but not alot. Rough Country is about the least expensive out there but have held up well for me. They always seem to sit level, I can't say that about the Tough Country's. I quit buying Tough Country cause you never knew how they where going to sit.

If you do use the 60 front as stated before it will add 1.5"ish of lift. Good luck and have fun with it.
