72 Suburban rear trim panel project.

I took on a weekend project of replacing the rear trim panels from the cargo area this summer.

Attached are pictures of how it was done and how it turned out.
It was pretty straight forward as I had the original panels to template off of.

They're made from 1/4" birch ply available from any home store.
3M super 77 trim adhesive and a 1" roller.
I also covered the inside of the panels and body with Kilmat.
Every little bit of sound deadening helps.

Be sure to under cut the size of the panel by 1/16" to accommodate the thickness of the vinyl you use.

Looks good. Am planning to do the same to mine, just need to get the vertical mounting brackets refurbished.

Wow, That looks super! I keep putting off doing my Panel Truck. I have everything to do it. I bought 1/4" Luan (Mahogany) plywood for mine but it should work about the same.

Keep up the good work!

Currently their just pushed in place and stay jut fine.
I have the holes drilled in the ply for the original screw locations.
Which I'll be installing over the winter among many other changes.

How did the 1/4 plywood fit in the upper chrome strip? I tried 1/4" in mine and it wouldn't fit. I have read there are two sizes of pickup door panel chrome strips depending on interior options but I've never been able to confirm the same for Burbans.

P.S. They look great!

The ply I used fit great. I used 1/4" birch ply (It could have been a maple maybe) which measured @ .181 instead of say M.d.f. which measures at .250 (1/4")

I am also unsure of the different size chrome strips.
