Need special bolt for jump seat for 66 burb
 

I know this is a long shot, but throwing it out. I need one special bolt for the pivot or hinge point on my passenger folding jump seat on my 66 burb. The part that is special is the shoulder under the head of the bolt. I have searched shouldered bolts and have found nothing close. I may have just make a sleeve that slides on the bolt but OD dimension is odd so it will need to be turned down on a lathe. Hoping someone has a rusted out or broken frame in their special junk that has the bolt I need.

Curious to know if the bolt in your pic is stripped and unusable? if not and it's just a bit rusty it would be easy to restore it to like new condition. Or is it that you only have one and need more than that?

Thought that might be the case, good photos and drawing btw. Agreed that to match exactly would mean either someones rare spare parts bin or salvage yard. The alternative would be to find something that looks the part and functions as the stock piece with little to no modifications. Still looking for one bolt. I may just have to find something close and have it machined to match.

i know of a spot where such a bolt is to be had!!! is it the bolt that attaches to the front two curved legs for the jump seat? if so i can hit this place up this week end...

I would just get a couple 5/16" x 1/2" button or pan head bolts, have a couple sleeves machined to ~.314" ID x .440 OD and .125 long and slide the over the bolts. That is not ideal but should last for quite a while.

One bolt looks correct for sure. You would want to soak those with PB Blaster or sometime to keep from breaking them off during removal. J

i got a bag oh tricks for bone pickin, i even take a propane torch. if you want it you gotta tell me cuz its an hr away a i go as needed.

One bolt is holding me up. I could really use one. Don't make a special trip. I have a regular bolt holding it in place for now. J

i use a self locking nut on the inside of the seat frame ! that way the bolt i wont be tightened up too far- & it lets the pivot point swivel & somebody getting in the back -wont scrape there leg or body on the nut edges ??

Machined a sleeve to fit on a bolt and got the seat bolted back in. Would still like to find an original bolt. Jim

all you need to do is say " hey pimp could u get that bolt for me" im a sucker for bone yard picks, plus i know where one is just waiting on u!!!

I am SO glad that you posted this. I have run into the same problem today with my 66 suburban. I have searched high and low for a screw identical to your photo. My problem is that both sides of the jump seat was NOT the same. so even if i wanted to reuse the hardware, ive only got one matching screw. If anyone has any spare's id be happy to take them off your hands! :)

fortunately last night i stumbled across another screw identical to that one. Weirdly it was a trim screw that was being used on the molding inside the cab above the drivers side door. But if for some reason i need one, i will shoot you a message. Thanks for the reply
