Re: 383 questions

No way even close tot he same. They are all 383's but there are a load of different combos. Tires, gears, weight, trans, driving habits, the want to pull a boat will all drive what combination of parts will best suit your truck.

Re: 383 questions

The HT383 is a good engine for a truck that is used as a truck such as towing.

Re: 383 questions

buy one and let us know how you like it . I've always been interested in the HT series, both the 383 and the 502 for a DD type engine. Seems like a good fit.

Several years ago, Chevy High Performance magazine ran a series of articles on the HT383 Crate engine, starting with a bone stock engine right out of the crate.

There ya go. Thousands of reviews. Its basically a vortec 350 stroked into a 383. Good engine.

Re: 383 questions

I don't know anything good or bad about the HT383. I do know they are not the same as a conventionally built 383 is. Most 383's are built using a 4.030 bore and a 3.75" stroke crank. Chevy's 383's are built with a stock 350 4.000" bore and a special 3.80" crank. The pistons and crank are unique to the Chevy version.
