Idea on spare tire location

5 Attachment(s)
I've been debating to where to put a spare tire. I have already moved the fuel tank to the rear, so that's out. Considered the fender cutout. So I have located a small donut spare with a dual pattern 4 3/4 and 5. Not sure what it orginally came off of, but it will work. Also purchased a Model A fender tub and hear is what I'm thinking! See pics below: Has anyone else done this? I hope I'm not the first!

I've never seen it done but I like the concept. Convenient and discreet, and makes a lot of sense being close to the tailgate for removal. I had my spare tethered to a Chevelle bracket in the right front corner of my bed (laying flat) for a number of years, but since my truck stays mostly local, several years ago I ditched the spare and just carry a can of inflataspare in the glove box now.

Your idea is so cool it could start a trend.

I've seen something similar on fleet side beds. Guys take a wheel well and invert it infront of the stock one. Accomplishes the same thing, and a bracket can be made to secure it to prevent loss/theft. It also keeps the wheel below the bed level IIRC or very close to it

Don't forget to put in some drain holes if you do that.

How tall is the tire?

I believe the overall diameter is 23" and 5" wide. The size is T125 80D16.
I will start working on the tub flange this weekend.
