Nice Burb Smokekiki

Very sharp Smoke. Is that a 72? I like to roof rack. Looks like a later year 'adapted'? What size are the tires? Sorry. I'm full of questions today. :)

smokekiki 02-26-2004 12:42 PM

It is a 71.Not sure what the rack is from.It has 285/75r-16.Soon as I figure out posting pics,I will post some interior pics.

71Subman 02-26-2004 12:51 PM

Hmm, it has different side markers than mine. Are those from a different year, or did they just use different ones on some?

No such thing as a one ton 4x4 till 76. 76 was the first year the D60 front was used. If it was a 74 axle then it was a D44. Does it have King pins or ball joints?

I'll trade you a 88 454 fairly well option rust free burb with 82k for it. :D

I still need to get the bumpers straightened or replaced. I am digging this rig, playing around with 4x4, scaring little ricers, ect....

Hate to break it to you, but no suburbans came with those markers between '67-72. They did on pickups starting in '69, but not the 'burbs. They have been changed out at some time.

You can even look at the original package contents of a custom deluxe and you'll see that the fancy side marker lights aren't part of the package.

The lights interchange, and I think they make it look nicer...

I finally got a digital camera, so I took a few quick shots of "Big Green". It just came back from the body shop after a local brake shop backed into the rear corner with one of their trucks ($1900 estimate). I kicked in some additional $$ and the body shop did both lower quarter patch panels while it was there--they were already going to have to repaint the driver's side quarter panel.

Hey grebus1, how well do those outside mirrors work for you? I need to get some new ones because mine are old and just vibrate too much. I like the looks of those, but SoCal traffic can be a b**** ! This is the best pics of the mirrors I have now.
BTW........ nice looking rig !

grebus1 04-19-2004 02:33 AM

Thanks for the nice words. Cojnit, we used both lower quarter patch panels and also the driver's side taillight section patch panel. The taillight section is what was damaged when the brake shop guy backed into it--there was some rust there, so we figured we might as well use the patch panel. All were a good fit, the only problem was that the taillight patch panel doesn't include the backing pieces that hold the lamp assemblies in place. Not realizing this, the body shop junked my old ones and I had to search for replacements (I was able to find some used ones from a guy on the board). Sub4vr, the mirrors look nice, but aren't very functional. The driver's side is decent, but I can't see much of anything out the passenger side and have to depend on a stick-on blind spot mirror! I used to have the below eyeline tripod style mirrors, but never thought they looked very good. I wasn't able to come up with a different style that would look good, work well, and mount properly on the door.

I've only got a couple interior pics right now. I took these for daburb to show him my recently recovered front seat. The cover came from Cars, Inc., who used NOS cloth in making the original type Custom/Deluxe cloth & vinyl seatcover.

Same problem I'm having.
Your interior is the same color as mine! I guess your green paint is the same color mine should be painted. Sure looks good!

bagged91 04-20-2004 04:42 PM

Hey grebus1,
Burb' looks sweet!!! Glad the tailight panels worked for you... If you don't mind me asking, how much did CARS nail you for the seat cover. I need the same exact one(color & pattern) for my 71' burb. The middle seat in mine is perfect so I don't need to replace that.

Thanks!
Joe

grebus1 04-20-2004 06:04 PM

Hey Joe, yeah the taillight panels worked great. Thanks for your help on that. The price of the seatcover was $319. If you are interested, I would recommend calling Cars, Inc. direct to inquire. When I did, the guy was very helpful and actually took the time to check and make sure they had enough cloth on hand to make the cover (they don't make them until one is ordered). Hopefully they still have enough green cloth left after making my cover to make one for you. I thought the price seemed a little steep at first, but have no regrets after seeing the finished product. I also have near perfect center and rear seats, so I definitely wanted the front to match.

bagged91 04-21-2004 02:25 PM

Well, it's only $50 more than the regular covers I've seen listed. Price is definitely good considering you/I only have to do the front seat. Cheaper in the long run. I have dealt with them before with my Camaro & my dad bought some covers from them too. Definitely a top notch place...

Thanks again!
Joe

Originally a Custom Deluxe 20 (3/4 ton)
I did a half ton conversion, bags in the front (working on the rear), 97 Grey leather Tahoe interior, billet steering wheel, new 350 motor and trans, waiting for the 94+ caddy lights to go in, waiting for the custom roll pan to be made, then its off to paint and body work.
