Center link 68 chevy

I have a 68 chevy half ton 2wd. I have all 76 front end parts except for the control arms they are original. The 68 center link does not fit the 76 idler and pitman arm. These are a tapered fit. Im just wondering if the center link could be drilled out to fit the 76 parts. If not then would a 76 center link be too long or short or would that work
Thanks
Derek

What year spindle are you using?
Match your tie rods and other associated steering parts to your spindles.
That's the easiest.

You will need the center link to match the spindles/tie rods. The other option is a billet tie rod adapter sleeve that has the early smaller threads on one side and larger 73 up threads on the outside.

I would imagine you could drill the center link if you could find the proper size tapered end mill but the first two options are cheaper than a good tapered end mill if one even exists for that size/angle taper.

I believe the center links changed in 73 (with all pickups having disc brakes, Thank God!!!). 73-79 center links might work...I will do some digging and report back, unless there's another expert... :D

Center link change on the 71-72 trucks and then again on the 73-87 trucks.

You should be fine!!!

Where did you order it from??? A used one???

I hadn't heard of anyone making them, except O.E., since they have no joints in them, and don't wear out, unless crashed....

I ordered it fom rare parts inc. Its a place that like oreilys and advance auto use. I ordered a control arm from them and it worked nicely. They are reasonably priced too.
