1956 restomod project
 

I'm looking for anyone who has or has an Idea what needs to be done to place a LS3 in a 56 Chevy truck with a clipped front suspension (pretty sure its a late 70's Camaro front clip. looking for motor mount ideas, cab clearance, exhaust issues, and etc. I don't have the money at this time for the actual engine at this time would love to mock it up as close as I can and move on with the build

The clip is already set up for a small block. Many places make motor mount conversions to put the LS where the small block went. I'd start there. You'll probably have to change the oil pan but maybe not. Scour the U pull it places, Craigs list, etc for some kind of deal on a block or core short block. I'd even throw it out to car people you know and machine shops, etc. that you would be willing to rent an LS engine for a few weeks to get where you're going. You might be surprised how many people are willing to help when they know what you're trying to do.

I would never buy one of these.

Probably plenty of room in there for the LS, and tons of different accessory kits, to relocate Alternator, AC, Etc.
Hell, you could probably find a used Vortec for less than $500 that would get you pretty close.

Like speedbump said, lots of swap motor mounts out there. Even ones with slotted holes to give you wiggle room back and forth.

I used the factory frame mounts that came with my Camaro clip and motor mounts to mount my 6.0 in my 1955 truck used a set of transdapt 1 inch back adapter plates to make it work. Fits perfect for my liking. running 4l80e trans,hedman 3/4 length headers also changed oil pan just to get a little more ground clearance. If I did not use the 1 inch back plates motor sat to far forward.

try to source a scrap engine/trans combo like you will use in the end. borrow, rent, buy scrapper etc. then place it in the chassis and see how it fits. like said, the chassis is already set up for a small block chevy and there are adapter plates for a small block to LS swap. if it is from a Camaro you could look into a Camaro LS swap mount kit, that would give you mounts, manifolds, pan if required and possibly a trans X member, which may be modified for your purpose.
worth looking into I would say
otherwise build all your own from scratch.
