Here's mine. It's a work in progress driver.I usually do a project or two to it in the winter than drive it thru the summer.Since I don't want to miss a summer driving it or a years mortgage payments,I haven't torn it completely dow.

Nice truck panelD, is that lowered or am I not seeing it right? I like your approach to the restoration (that's how I thought I'd work it). My project went different than planned but maybe they all take on a life of their own?

This is where I'm at right now. My chassis is just about finished, just a few little details left to iron out. I decided to bite the bullet and tear mine down and re-do it all. I knew it would take a long time, but wanting to drive it again is my motivation. Next I'll start working on the drive train. Gonna go with a mildly built 292 and most likely a 200r tranny. I'll probably get started on some body work while I'm saving up money for the motor and trans. I'm just a little bit ahead of my schedule I set for myself, so that's a good thing. Long live the Panels!:metal:

Are those rear wheel housings from a pickup? Great looking panel!

Re: pls post pixs of 67-72 Panels

hey olblue60, yeah that's right, good eye! This girl was pretty rotten and I didn't know what else to use. I figured most folks wouldn't know the difference, in fact until I started coming on this board I wouldn't have known. Would have been nice to keep the old round housings though.

Re: pls post pixs of 67-72 Panels

My panel was originaly red but painted over in white. I enjoy your pictures as I have always wondered what it looked like new. I also finished my plywood about the same color as yours. I had to bite the bullit on the price of the wood. It still hurts.

robb67 12-27-2009 11:51 AM

Re: pls post pixs of 67-72 Panels

This was an original red panel as well, although not this shade of red I'd guess. I hear ya about the wood--yikes! I couldn't get marine plywood the right size in Canada so I took a gamble on some "good one side" plywood and I filled all the voids and protected the underside and I'll have to see how long it lasts (I was told what I bought uses the same glue as marine wood between ply's). My thought is if I don't winter drive the panel (at least for a while) it should last fairly well and at less than 1/2 the price of marine wood. Did you need to work on the wheel housings?

hey anythingonwhlz, I think I read in another thread that you were having troubles uploading pictures? If you want to email them to me I'd be happy to re-size them and post them on here for ya. LMK and lets get a pic of yours on here.

Yes it's lowered.Static drop 2 1/2 spindles front and 4 in springs rear( has just enough rake to keep water in the drip rails).235/70-15 fronts and 255/70-15 rear on factory rallies(Painted a dark mettalic grey).Did the drop as last winters project and did the drip rails this summer.I have most of the stuff to do a PS upgrade and if the $$$ gets right I will do that this winter spring.I don't have wheel housings in the front. It's too cold to paint outside(they need one or two more coats) but the QOV doesn't allow painting in the house(kinda narrow minded).I'm keeping the 250 and trying to decide on a 200/700R4 or to keep the 3OTT.

I would love to do a frame off but don't have the time,$$$ or space right now.I would want to have everything in a pile before I started so I could just keep going until it was done.I do have a 67 body(Panel) put away in TX for another project and want to do it that way.

Kallo, Thanks for sharing that picture of your panel.very unique paint job!
It looks like it is in really good condition. What does the interior look like?
Got any pics of the inside?

Re: pls post pixs of 67-72 Panels

hi kallo, welcome and nice panel you got there.

PanelD, thanks for the specs on your drop and tires. That's the next step for me. This winter I want to get some back spaced painted "factory like" rallies and tires to fill out the wheel housing. I just missed out on a really nice set on here last month...darn work had me miss the sale but I will find something. Your specs will help me and your set up seems to fill the wheel housing, so no back spacing for you then?

Here are the first two pictures of my new 68 3/4 Custom Panel with factory 396 in it.... Will hopefully pick it up this weekend....

My plans are to redo the body work on the quarters and rear door, and then repaint it the factory silver poly/white grille, then drop my rebuilt 400/400 in it and convert from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive with 4 inch lift.....

Nice project John. Can't wait to watch the progress. With mine just about complete (for now) I'm going to have to live vicariously through other people's builds.

hey kallo, that looks like quite the party bus inside. I like it. Do you have a story about the unique paint scheme?

and PETEM1957, is that your panel? if so what are the plans?

I seem to have lots of questions today...oh well. I guess I just love to see what others are doing with their panels.
