Re: 3/4 ton pics???
People with trucks w/ lifts and oversize tires, can you comment on you set-ups. I'm interested in doing a 4" lift on mine with 35" tires (37" if I can fit) and looking for ideas.

Here are my two.
The 1970 3/4 GMC Sierra Grande has been my baby for 12 years now still getting rebuilt. Currently it is in the garage with new wood installed in the bed and is getting new rubber mounts on the radiator support and the cab; next will be to work the lighting bugs out. It was found by me in Imperial California, (desert), in 2000 with 4 busted push rods in the BB. It had a 1968 front end on it too. I purchased it for 500. The 1972 1 TON Cheyenne Super is a real sweet BB/4 SPEED manual tyranny truck. I put it in here for you because it has just about everything the same as my 3/4 ton GMC. I believe the springs are more heavy duty on it. I am the third owner on it. I am from Ohio like LONGHORNMAN Andy and have never seen such rust free, straight specimens then these two. The dealer changed this white one from a nice sporty truck to a more serious work truck. This truck was purchased by Arrowhead Water Company, so they removed the bucket seats, upper trim and Longhorn emblems to make it a work horse. It also had the delivery framing in it or attached. The prior owner I bought it from told me about this. It drives smooth and strong after all these years. This truck even still had the jack, handle and lug wrench in it. Enjoy! R/ |

a 1/2 ton would have worked perfectly fine. but my C20 gives me a bigger brake booster, bigger rear drums, beefier track bar, and a bit more mass to play with (for towing, etc) since these old trucks are on the lighter side without all the sound insulation, creature comforts and safety features of modern rigs. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...6/DSC02308.jpg |

Re: 3/4 ton pics???
My old workhorse 71 just after I got it running with the 16.5 split rims still on it.
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...YN05RUN069.jpg All decked out with new 16x8 rims and 245x16 tires Just after the rims and tires were put on it. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...050_edited.jpg The odd color hood and fender are because my aunt wrecked the truck in the early 80's. I put the tube grill and single lights in it at that time because that was all I could find at the time. No GMC noses in the valley that month. The GMC emblem in the middle of the grill was laying out next to my mailbox one morning in a broken grill. A couple hours later I had a different looking grill. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...ckup/005-1.jpg It gets a workout pulling my 21 ft sailboat over the pass every year too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...datts08002.jpg |

Capev86, I used to do Bonney Eagle but when they started spotting the participants all over the fields instead of in their respective classes I gave it up. It's nothing like it used to be. Owls Head is THE truck show to go to! I missed this year, but anticipate going next year ('12) Tim |
Re: 3/4 ton pics???
yeah....it always seems like it's raining at Bonny Eagle too (i thought it was supposed to rain in April, not May).
as for Owls Head...made it this year and last to the truck show. they have different theme car shows practically every weekend during the summer. for all of you not in the know. owls head transportation museum is right on the edge of a small airport near rockland, maine. they have several vintage aircraft including a reproduction tri-wing done up like the red baron's plane form ww1. also have a packard, , giant stationary steam engine, etc. and most recently a collection of vintage MG's that was donated. we are talking the old touring car models, not the 2 seat roadsters everyone associates with the brand. took my Honda CB350 twin to the vintage motorcycle event this year in sept. i rode it the 3 hours to get there, but my dad had brought his bike up on the trailer earlier in the week, so my butt only had to survive 1 hour on the way back....my grandmother's house (wiscassette) makes a great base of operations for midcoast maine activities . i also have been going to the car show at the boothbay railway museum which is like 20 minutes away. it is a two day event like owls head, but they end sunday with a vintage car parade through the downtown. i used to do the two shows back to back but this year they were on different weekends (in july). i want to take the truck (and camper) up to moncton, new brunswick for the atlantic nationals next summer. my parents are planning to take the car, so i could leave the rig at my grandmother's until the following weekend. we will just have to check the schedule. which reminds me....i need to get my passport in the works! |
Re: 3/4 ton pics???
This is the GMC i had a few years back. i really like this truck and kind of wish i had kept it
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...getruck020.jpg and the current project is not really recognizable so pics are a bit moot, but it too is a 3/4 ryan |
